GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS
This appliance must be grounded. If it should malfunction or break down, grounding provides a path of least resistance for electric current to reduce the risk of electric shock. This appliance is equipped with a cord having an equipment-grounding conductor (C) and grounding plug (A). The plug must be inserted into an appropriate outlet (B) that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances.
WARNING:
Improper connection of the equipment-grounding conductor can result in the risk of electric shock. Check with a qualified electrician or service person if you are in doubt as to whether the outlet is properly grounded. Do not modify the plug provided with the appliance if it will not fit the outlet; have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician. This appliance is for use on a nominal 120-volt circuit and has a grounding plug that looks like the plug (A) illustrated in Fig. 1.
A temporary adapter (D) may be used to connect this plug to a 2-pole receptacle (E) if a properly grounded outlet is not available (Fig. 2). The temporary adapter should be used only until a properly grounded outlet (B) can be installed by a qualified electrician (Fig. 1). The green colored rigid ear, lug, or the like (F) extending from the adapter must be connected to a permanent ground (G) such as a properly grounded outlet box cover (Fig. 2). Whenever the adapter is used, it must be held in place by a metal screw. NOTE: In Canada, the use of a temporary adapter is not permitted by the Canadian Electrical Code.

THERMAL PROTECTOR
A thermal protector has been designed into your cleaner to protect it from overheating. When the thermal protector activates, the cleaner will stop running.
If this happens, proceed as follows:
- Turn cleaner OFF.
- Empty dirty water tank.
- Inspect the nozzle for any obstructions. Clear obstructions if present.
- When the cleaner is de-energized and the motor cools for 30 minutes, the thermal protector will deactivate, and cleaning may continue.
If the thermal protector continues to activate after following the above steps, your cleaner needs servicing.
Available on select models.
STORAGE
Wrap the power cord around the cord hooks for convenient storage. Attach the plug end to the cord. Allow brushes and the underside of the carpet cleaner to air dry thoroughly before storing the carpet cleaner on a carpeted or wood surface.

Hoover PowerDash Compact Carpet Cleaner-FAQs
How do I use the Hoover PowerDash Compact Carpet Cleaner?
Fill the clean water tank, add the recommended Hoover solution, plug in the machine, and slowly push it forward while pressing the trigger to release solution. Pull back without pressing the trigger to extract dirty water.
How do I properly use a Hoover carpet cleaner?
Vacuum the area first, use the correct Hoover detergent, clean in slow forward-and-back passes, and allow carpets to dry completely after cleaning.
Is the Hoover PowerDash Compact Carpet Cleaner good?
Yes. Users find it lightweight, powerful, easy to assemble, and very effective at removing pet stains and odors—great for small spaces and quick cleanups.
Can I use the Hoover PowerDash on a couch?
Yes. It is gentle enough for upholstery while still strong enough to remove stains, dirt, and pet messes from furniture.
Can I use any soap in a Hoover carpet cleaner?
You can, but using non-Hoover detergents may void the warranty. Hoover recommends their own formulas for best performance.
Should I mix Hoover carpet cleaner solution with water?
Yes. Most Hoover models require you to dilute the solution with water unless the machine mixes it automatically. Follow the tank instructions.
Do I use hot or cold water in a carpet cleaner?
Use warm (not boiling) water. Warm water helps loosen dirt and improve cleaning results.
Can urine be completely removed from carpet?
Yes. Blot the area, clean with a vinegar-water mix or an enzymatic cleaner, and vacuum once dry for deep odor removal.
Can I use vinegar in my Hoover carpet cleaner?
It’s possible, but not recommended. Vinegar can reduce cleaning performance and may void your warranty. Use approved Hoover solutions instead.
