Salter EK5817 DuoWave 2-in-1 Air Fryer & Microwave-FAQS
How do I use the Salter DuoWave air fryer & microwave?
Press the power button to turn it on. Use the LED display to select the cooking compartment (1 or 2). Set the time and temperature manually based on your food, or choose from preset cooking modes.
Do I need to preheat the air fryer or microwave?
Yes. Preheating ensures even cooking. For air frying, add 3–5 minutes to the cooking time if you skip preheating. For the microwave, set it to the desired temperature and allow a few minutes to preheat.
What foods should I avoid cooking in the air fryer?
Avoid battered or saucy foods, wet foods, pasta, rice, and cheese. These can create messes or cook unevenly.
Can I use foil or baking paper in the air fryer?
Yes, but cut to size and place food on top to weigh it down. Avoid large sheets that can disrupt airflow or touch the heating element.
Can I cook frozen food in the air fryer?
Yes. Air fryers cook frozen snacks like fries or chicken tenders evenly and efficiently without thawing.
What oils are best for air frying?
Use oils with high smoke points like avocado, light olive, peanut, or ghee. Grapeseed or refined coconut oils also work well.
How do I use the air fryer presets?
In standby mode, press ‘Air Fry Presets’. Use the control dial to cycle through presets (AF01, AF02, etc.), then press CONFIRM/Start to begin cooking.
Can I cook an entire meal in the air fryer?
Yes, but avoid overfilling the basket. Crowding prevents proper air circulation, leading to uneven cooking.
What is the 25-degree rule for air frying?
Reduce conventional oven temperatures by 25°F for air fryer cooking. For example, bake at 325°F instead of 350°F, or roast at 400°F instead of 425°F.
How much electricity does it use?
The EK5817 uses 900–1500W, depending on the function. Air frying is energy-efficient compared to traditional ovens.
