WARNING Electrical Shock Hazard: This appliance is provided with either a polarized (one wide blade) or grounded (3-prong) plug to reduce the risk of electric shock. The plug fits only one way into a polarized or grounded outlet. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the plug by modifying the plug in any way or by using an adapter. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, have an electrician replace the outlet.

Press the START/STOP button to turn the kettle on. The kettle will bring water to a boil, then shut off automatically. Discard water and repeat 2–3 times, rinsing out the kettle each time. The kettle is now ready for use.
- Plug into the outlet. The Water Level Window will illuminate in blue for 3 minutes.
- Press the Open Button to lift the lid. Fill the kettle with the required amount of water. Ensure that the water level is between 0.5 L and MAX on the Water Level Window. Always keep the Mesh Filter in place.
- Press down on the lid to close. Make sure the base is on a level surface.
- Press the desired Temperature Control Button and then press the START/STOP button. The selected Temperature Control Button will illuminate in blue and flash until the temperature is reached. The kettle will beep six times when the selected temperature is reached. Pressing the START/STOP button without selecting a temperature will default to Boil mode.

- Only use the kettle to heat water. If the Kettle is used to heat other liquids, such as coffee or tea, the warranty will be voided.
If Kettle Floor Discolors:
It is normal for stainless steel heating elements to discolor. This does not affect the performance of Kettle. Do not use abrasive scouring pads or cleaners since this may damage the stainless steel surface.
If Kettle Boils Dry:
The heating element is protected by two automatic safety devices. If your Kettle is accidentally switched on without being filled with water, or is allowed to boil dry, the Kettle will automatically switch off. You should:
- Unplug the kettle and wait about 20 minutes for the element to cool down.
- Refill the Kettle; then use it as normal and check that the Kettle functions correctly.
If the Kettle Does Not Work:
Make these simple checks before contacting Customer Service:
- Have you pressed the START/STOP button?
- If the kettle heats but does not boil, it might need descaling (see “Care and Cleaning” section).
- Has the Kettle been accidentally turned on without being filled with water or allowed to boil dry? Press the START/STOP button, wait 20 minutes, and try again.
- Is the cord firmly plugged into the outlet and the kettle firmly seated in the base?
Anti-Scale Mesh Filter:
Scale is caused by lime and calcium in hard water. The mesh filter will prevent these suspended particles from being poured out of the kettle. The filter should be cleaned periodically to ensure optimum performance.
Tea Guide
- Bring filtered or good-tasting tap water to a boil in the kettle. Use 6 ounces (177 mL) of water per cup of tea.
- If using loose tea instead of tea bags, measure 1 rounded teaspoon of tea per cup into an infuser and place the infuser in the cup. If no infuser is available, put tea directly into the cup.
- Pour heated water directly over tea. For stronger tea, add more leaves rather than infusing longer than is recommended. NOTE: Tea that is oversteeped will become bitter.
NOTE: These temperature settings can vary depending on a number of factors, such as altitude, impurities in water, and the amount of water in the Kettle.
Care and Cleaning
WARNING: Electrical Shock Hazard. Do not immerse the kettle, base, or plug in water or any other liquid. DO NOT PLACE IN A DISHWASHER FOR CLEANING.
- With the kettle unplugged, empty any remaining water and rinse. Allow the kettle to cool. The mesh filter may be removed by pulling up on the tab, which is visible through the Kettle opening. To replace the filter, line up the filter with the tab towards the inside of the Kettle and slide it down until it snaps into place.
- To avoid scale/lime deposit buildup, empty the Kettle after each use. To remove discoloration or scale/lime deposit from heating element: Place 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 mL) cream of tartar (available in the spice aisle of the grocery store) into the Kettle. Then fill Kettle 1/2 full with water. Plug into an outlet, press the START/STOP button, and bring to a boil. Press the START/STOP button. Unplug and let cool. Rinse several times with clean tap water.
- Wipe the exterior of the Kettle with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive scouring pads or powders since they may scratch the smooth surface of the Kettle.

Hamilton Beach 41031 Variable Temperature Kettle -FAQs
What are the key features of the Hamilton Beach 41031 Variable Temperature Kettle?
The Hamilton Beach 41031 is designed for users who want more control over water temperature. It typically features multiple preset temperature settings suitable for different types of tea and coffee, a keep-warm function, automatic shutoff, and boil-dry protection. Many buyers are specifically looking for precision heating rather than just basic boiling, making this model appealing for tea enthusiasts and specialty coffee drinkers.
Does the Hamilton Beach 41031 have preset temperature options for different teas?
Yes, one of the main reasons people search for this model is its variable temperature control. It includes preset temperature settings tailored for green tea, white tea, oolong, black tea, and herbal infusions. This allows users to avoid overheating delicate teas and achieve better flavor extraction, which is especially important for those who regularly brew specialty teas.
How accurate is the temperature control on the Hamilton Beach 41031?
Buyers often want to know if the kettle reaches and maintains the selected temperature accurately. The 41031 is designed to heat water to specific preset levels and includes a keep-warm function that helps maintain the chosen temperature for a set period. While it may not match high-end professional kettles, it performs reliably for everyday home use.
Is the Hamilton Beach 41031 good for pour-over coffee?
Many users searching for this kettle are interested in pour-over coffee brewing. While it provides adjustable temperature control that benefits coffee extraction, it does not typically feature a gooseneck spout for ultra-precise pouring. It works well for general coffee preparation, but serious pour-over enthusiasts may prefer a kettle designed specifically for controlled pouring.
How fast does the Hamilton Beach 41031 boil water?
Speed is a common buying concern. The Hamilton Beach 41031 is built to heat water quickly, generally boiling a full tank within minutes, thanks to its powerful heating element. Users looking for convenience in busy mornings often choose this model because it combines fast boiling with customizable temperature settings.
Does the Hamilton Beach 41031 have a keep-warm function?
Yes, this model includes a keep-warm feature, which is a major reason customers consider it. After reaching the selected temperature, the kettle can maintain that heat for a period of time, making it convenient for multiple cups of tea or coffee without reheating the water repeatedly.
Is the Hamilton Beach 41031 safe to use?
Safety features are an important part of user intent. The kettle includes automatic shut-off once water reaches the selected temperature and boil-dry protection to prevent damage if turned on without enough water. These features provide peace of mind for households that prioritize safe kitchen appliances.
What materials is the Hamilton Beach 41031 made from?
Shoppers often want to know about material safety and durability. The kettle typically features stainless steel components and BPA-free materials in areas that contact water. Stainless steel is valued for its durability, resistance to corrosion, and safe boiling properties, making it a practical option for daily use.
Is the Hamilton Beach 41031 worth the price?
For buyers seeking temperature control without paying premium brand prices, the 41031 offers strong value. It combines adjustable heating, safety features, and solid performance at a mid-range price point. It is especially worth considering for tea drinkers who need specific temperature settings but do not require professional-level equipment.
Who should buy the Hamilton Beach 41031 Variable Temperature Kettle?
This kettle is ideal for tea lovers, coffee enthusiasts, and households that want more flexibility than a basic boil-only kettle provides. If you frequently prepare different beverages requiring specific temperatures, this model fits well. However, users who only need simple boiling functionality may find a standard electric kettle sufficient.
