Getting Started
- Wash your hands with soap and water; then remove the filter from the filter bag. NOTE: It is normal for a new filter to be wet when first opened. Filters are washed during manufacturing to prevent them from drying out.
- Soak the filter upright in cold water for 15 minutes.
- Hand-wash pitcher/dispenser, lid, and reservoir with a mild detergent. Do not use abrasive cleaners. Rinse well. TIP: Hand-wash pitcher/dispenser, lid, and reservoir periodically. Do not wash them in the dishwasher. For best results, cleaning
chrome pitcher lids, wipe with a soft sponge soaked in a solution of one teaspoon of vinegar in a cup of water. - Rinse filter under cold, running tap water for a few seconds.
- Insert the filter into the reservoir by lining up the groove in the filter with the notch in the reservoir. Press firmly to ensure a tight seal. Fill the reservoir with cold tap water.* Discard your first two pitchers of filtered water (or first dispenser), or use this water for plants. It is normal for carbon dust to appear in your first fillings.
The Brita® Filter
For best results when filling the pitcher/dispenser reservoir, pour tap water on the side of the reservoir rather than directly on top of the filter. Allow water to filter completely before pouring or refilling the reservoir.

Electronic Filter Change Indicator (Smart Pitchers Only)
- Press firmly and hold the start button down for 5 to 10 seconds.
- As you hold down the button, 4 bars will appear in the display, one after the other. Do not release the start button until the 4 bars appear and start to flash. If you have difficulty pressing the start button, a capped ballpoint pen may be used to press the button down.
- A small flashing dot in the lower right corner of the display shows that the indicator is working.
- Every 2 weeks, a bar automatically disappears. When only 1 bar remains, make sure you have a new filter on hand.

Calendar Minder™ (Pitchers with Calendar Minder™ Only)
- Insert a new filter.
- Set the filter indicator to the closest date 2 months from now.
- On the date indicated, remove your filter and repeat steps 1 and 2.
Remember…
Change your filter about every 2 months for healthier, great-tasting water!*
- The Brita® Pitcher Filter is not intended to purify water. Do not use with water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality without adequate disinfection before or after the system. Individuals requiring water of special microbiological purity should follow the advice of their doctor or local health officials regarding the use and consumption of their tap water and Brita® water.
- We recommend that you store your Brita® system in the refrigerator to get cold, great-tasting water. If you would like to keep your Brita® system outside of the refrigerator, we recommend that you keep it in a cool area that is not in direct sunlight and replace any filtered water that has been left sitting for several days or more. This will help make
sure you get refreshing, great-tasting Brita® water. - The bottom of the filter must be in contact with the filtered water to prevent the filter from drying out. If the filter dries out, resoak for 15 minutes.

Brita LP OB36-OB03 Pitcher-Dispenser-FAQs
Can I refill my Brita pitcher more than once?
Yes. You can refill the reservoir multiple times. Ensure the bottom of the filter remains submerged to stay moist for proper filtration.
Can I use boiling or hot water in the Brita pitcher?
No. Use only cold or room temperature water (32–85°F / 0–29°C). Hot water may damage the filter.
Can I use cleaning solutions like Lizol, Dettol, or vinegar in the water tank?
No. Only use cold water or manufacturer-approved mild solutions. Harsh chemicals can damage the filter and affect water quality.
Can I wash and reuse my Brita filter?
Filters can be soaked briefly in a vinegar-water solution to remove buildup, but they should be replaced according to the recommended lifespan.
Can I replace the battery in a Brita pitcher indicator?
No. The filter indicator battery is non-replaceable. When the indicator stops working, you can still use the filter as usual.
How do I clean the Brita pitcher and dispenser?
Wash the lid and reservoir with warm, soapy water. For stubborn residue or mildew, use a solution of 1 teaspoon vinegar per cup of water, rinse thoroughly, and air dry.
How long does filtered water last in a Brita pitcher?
Once filtered, water should be consumed within 24 hours if refrigerated. Unrefrigerated water may last a day but should be replaced daily for safety.
Does Brita remove fluoride or minerals from water?
Brita filters reduce chlorine, heavy metals, and some contaminants but do not remove fluoride. Some essential minerals remain in the water.
Can you put fruit in a Brita pitcher?
No. Adding fruit or juice directly can affect filter performance and hygiene. Flavor water separately, then pour into the pitcher if desired.
