Safety & care notes

IMPORTANT, RETAIN FOR FUTURE REFERENCE: READ CAREFULLY

This user guide must be followed in detail to ensure the safety features of the cot bed are not compromised.

  • WARNING! Be aware of the risk of open fire and other sources of strong heat, such as electric bar fires, gas fires, etc., in the vicinity of the product.
  • WARNING! Do not use the product if any part is broken, damaged, torn, or missing. Approved replacement parts can be obtained from Mothercare.
  • WARNING! Do not leave anything in the cot, such as toys, or place the cot close to another product, which could provide a foothold or present a danger of suffocation or strangulation, e.g., strings, blind/curtain cords, etc.
  • WARNING! Do not use more than one mattress in the cot.
  • WARNING! Do not place this product near heat sources, windows, or other furniture.
  • WARNING! Children are likely to play, bounce, jump, and climb on beds; therefore, the child’s bed should not be placed too close to other furniture or windows and should be placed either tight to any wall or have a gap of 300mm between the wall and the side of the bed.
  • WARNING! Never move the product with a child in it.
  • The lowest position of the mattress base is the safest and should be used as soon as the baby is old enough to sit up. The thickness of the mattress chosen must not reduce the internal depth (from mattress surface to top of the side) to less than 500mm with the base in its lowest position or 200mm with the base in its highest position.
  • The size of the mattress to be used with the child’s bed is 1400mm long by 700mm wide and up to 120mm in thickness. The width and length are specified because the gaps between the mattress and the sides and the ends of the cot mustn’t exceed 30mm. This is to minimise the risk of a child’s limb becoming caught in the gap.
  • All assembly fittings should be tightened properly, checked regularly, and re-tightened as necessary. To prevent injury from falls, when the child can climb out of the cot, the cot shall no longer be used for that child. The product must be used on a level and stable surface, away from electric sockets. Once assembled, do not dismantle for transportation or storage. Excessive chewing may damage the wood and cause splintering. Cots that convert to toddler beds are intended from 18 months to approximately 4 years. Conforms to EN 716, BS 8509.

Care for your product

Your cot/bed can be cleaned by wiping with a damp cloth and drying with a soft, clean cloth. Do not use abrasives, bleach, alcohol, or ammonia-based household polishes. Take care when handling or moving. Careless handling can damage wooden furniture. Wood is a natural material; the colour will darken with age.

Mothercare Lulworth Cot Bed-FAQs

What size mattress fits the Mothercare Lulworth Cot Bed?

What are the dimensions of the Mothercare Lulworth Cot Bed?

The cot bed measures 75 x 148 x 94 cm (W x L x H). It features an oak-effect capping rail, three adjustable base heights, and can be converted into a toddler bed.

How long can my child use the Lulworth Cot Bed?

The cot bed is suitable from birth up to around 4 years old. It can be converted from a cot into a toddler bed as your child grows, offering great long-term value.

How do I assemble the Mothercare Lulworth Cot Bed?

The cot bed comes flat-packed and includes assembly instructions. You’ll need to attach the sides, base, and ends using the provided bolts and barrel nuts. Always tighten fittings securely and check regularly for stability.

When should I lower the cot base to the next level?

Lower the mattress base once your baby begins to sit up or pull themselves up. When your child can stand unaided, move the base to the lowest position for safety.

When can I remove the sides of the cot bed?

You can remove the sides once your child is between 18 months and 3 years old, or when they begin climbing or attempting to get out of the cot. Every child is different, so adjust according to readiness.

Yes. The cot bed is suitable from birth. For the first six months, it’s recommended to keep the cot in your bedroom for safer sleep and easier nighttime feeding.

How do I convert the Lulworth Cot Bed into a toddler bed?

Remove the cot sides and reposition the base if needed. Then, attach the conversion fittings as per the user manual. The toddler bed can be used until your child is ready for a single bed.

Where should I place the cot bed in the room?

Position the cot away from windows, radiators, and cords to avoid temperature changes or strangulation risks. Make sure the area around the cot is clear of objects your baby could grab or climb on.
