- Use only as described in this manual. Use only the manufacturer’s recommended instructions.
- Do not use with a damaged cord or plug. If the appliance is not working as it should, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water, return it to Atrix International.
- Do not pull or carry by cord, use cord as a handle, close a door on cord, or pull cord around sharp edges of corners. Do not run the appliance over the cord. Keep the cord away from heated surfaces.
- Do not unplug by pulling on the cord. To unplug, grasp the plug, not the cord.
- Do not handle the plug or appliance with wet hands.
- Do not put any object into openings. Do not use with any opening blocked; keep free of dust, lint, hair, and anything that may reduce airflow.
- Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all body parts away from openings and moving parts.

GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS
This appliance must be grounded. If it should malfunction or break down, grounding provides a path of least resistance for electric current to reduce the risk of electric shock. This appliance is equipped with a cord having an equipment-grounding conductor and grounding plug. The plug must be plugged into an appropriate outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances.
DANGER:
Improper connection of the equipment-grounding conductor can result in a risk of electric shock. Check with a qualified electrician or service person if you are in doubt as to whether the outlet is properly grounded. Do not modify the plug provided with the appliance – if it will not fit the outlet, have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician. This appliance is for use on a nominal 110-volt circuit.
A temporary adapter may be used to connect this plug to a 2-pole receptacle if a properly grounded outlet is not available. The temporary adapter should be used only until a properly grounded outlet can be installed. The green colored rigid ear, lug, or the like extending from the adapter must be connected to a permanent ground, such as a properly grounded outlet box cover. Whenever the adapter is used, it must be held in place by a metal screw.
Harness Assembly:
- Remove four (4) screws from the vacuum housing inserts. Position the harness on the vacuum housing.
- Align the harness back plate with the mounting holes to the vacuum body. Reinsert four (4) screws through the harness and tighten.
Adjusting Backpack Harness:
Loosen waist and chest belt latches. Slide arms through shoulder straps. Adjust shoulder straps to raise or lower the backpack so that the weight is evenly distributed between the back and hips, and the waist and chest belt latches comfortably. For significantly shorter or taller operators, it may be necessary to adjust the harness back-plate to find a comfortable position. The back-plate can be re-positioned by removing and relocating the four (4) screws to the vacuum housing.
To Operate:
- Attach the extension cord relief clip to the triangle hanger that is located on the harness waist belt.
- Pass your extension cord through the cord relief clip hanging from the harness. This will prevent the pigtail and extension power cord from separating during operation and will protect the pigtail cord from getting pulled on or pulled out of the vacuum. Fasten the waist belt and chest belt snugly and make sure the weight is resting comfortably on your hips. Reminder, the back plate is adjustable up or down by removing the four screws that attach to the vacuum’s body.
Thermal Protection:
These vacuums have a factory-installed resettable Thermal Cut Out (TCO) for added operator and motor safety. If the unit gets too hot, the vacuum will shut down for approx 20 minutes. Turn the on/off switch to the off position and turn it back on in approximately 20 minutes, in which time the motor will have cooled enough to resume safe operation.
Check for hose clogs and full filters, as either one will reduce air flow and limit cooling air reaching the motor. Clear the clog and/or install a new filter. Under no circumstances should you return a failed unit to the factory. If you experience any problems with your vacuum during the warranty period, contact Atrix Customer Service.
Electrical Cord Care:
Never stretch the cord tightly between the vacuum and the outlet. A cord that is stretched or pulled will not function properly and creates a danger. After vacuuming, unplug the cord and wind it up loosely. Do not wind the cord up by wrapping it around your hand and elbow.
Proper Storage:
When the vacuum is not in use, it should be stored in a dry place.
Filter Change-Out Instructions
- Insert the orange plug into the filter cartridge.
- Open the two top latches and remove the lid.
- Lift the filter cartridge out.
- Dispose of the filter cartridge in an appropriate manner compliant with all local, state, and federal laws.

Atrix VACOSTBV Omega SafeTech HEPA Backpack Vacuum-FAQs
What warranty does the Atrix VACOSTBV Omega SafeTech Vacuum come with?
The Atrix VACOSTBV Omega SafeTech HEPA Backpack Vacuum includes a 1-year limited warranty. This warranty covers manufacturing and material defects for the original purchaser from the date of purchase. To keep the warranty valid, proper usage and regular maintenance as outlined in the user manual are recommended.
How often should I replace the HEPA filter in this vacuum?
In normal use, the HEPA filter should be replaced every 6 to 12 months. If the vacuum is used daily or in dusty commercial environments, more frequent replacement may be necessary. Always check airflow and suction levels to judge filter performance.
How long does a HEPA filter usually last?
With average residential or light commercial use, a HEPA filter can last 2 to 3 years. However, heavy-duty cleaning, construction dust, or allergens can shorten its lifespan. Reduced suction and poor air quality are signs it’s time for a replacement.
Can I wash the HEPA filter?
Some Atrix HEPA filters are washable, but not all. If your filter is washable, rinse it with clean water only—no soap—and allow it to dry completely before reinstalling. Always confirm washability in the product manual to avoid damage.
Should I dust surfaces before vacuuming?
Yes, dusting first is recommended. Dusting loosens debris from shelves and furniture, allowing the vacuum to collect it afterward. This method improves overall cleaning efficiency and prevents dust from resettling in the air.
How long does the Atrix backpack vacuum typically last?
With proper care and routine maintenance, the Atrix VACOSTBV Omega vacuum can last 5 to 8 years. Regular filter changes, proper storage, and clearing blockages help extend the unit’s lifespan.
What should I do if my vacuum loses suction?
Loss of suction is often caused by a clogged filter, full dust bag, or blocked hose. Start by checking and cleaning the filters, emptying the bag, and inspecting the hose and nozzle for debris before seeking professional repair.
How can I tell if my vacuum uses a true HEPA filter?
A true HEPA filter is rated to capture 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns. Look for this rating printed on the filter or listed in the product specifications to confirm HEPA certification.
Is it better to repair or replace a vacuum?
If the vacuum is still under warranty or the issue is minor (like a belt or filter), repair is usually cost-effective. However, if the unit is old and repairs are expensive, replacing it may be the better long-term option.
