Q&A TROUBLESHOOTING

How frequently do I need to change the filter?

The charcoal filter and foam filter should be changed every 2 to 4 weeks, depending on the number of pets using the fountain. Having more pets that use the fountain will increase the saliva content and debris in the water, so the filter will need to be changed more frequently.

Why am I finding small black particles in my pet’s fountain?

It is common for some residual charcoal dust to seep from the filter. This is perfectly normal and not harmful to your pet in any manner. To help prevent the charcoal dust from shedding, rinse the filter thoroughly under running water before placing it inside the fountain.

How often should I clean the fountain?

The fountain should be cleaned at least every two weeks. Please clean it once a week if you live in hard water.

How long will the fountain pump last?

The fountain runs on a long-life AC Pump. The pump normally lasts between 2.5-4 years (>20,000 hours). If the pump has been in regular use for approximately this time period, it may be old and need replacing. We provide a full 1-year warranty for the pump.

What’s the fountain’s power consumption?

Fountain runs on a super low-power AC pump with a power adapter. The power consumption for the total unit is about 2.0 Watts, so the total power consumption is about 1.5 kWh per month or 18 kWh per year.

Petwant PW-103 Pet Water Fountain-FAQs

Q1. How do I set up the Petwant PW-103 pet water fountain?

Place the fountain on a flat surface near a power outlet, fill the reservoir with fresh water, install the filter, and plug it in. Once powered, the pump will start circulating water.

Q2. How does the Petwant pet water fountain work?

The fountain uses a motor-driven pump that pulls water from the reservoir, passes it through a filter to remove debris and odors, and then circulates it back for continuous fresh flow.

Q3. Does the Petwant water fountain need to be plugged in?

Yes, it requires power to run the pump. Make sure it is positioned close to an outlet and that the cord is safely tucked away from pets.

Q4. How much electricity does a pet fountain use?

Most pet fountains, including the PW-103, use a low-wattage pump (about 1–5 watts). This makes the electricity cost very minimal.

Q5. How often should I change the water in the fountain?

It’s best to replace the water daily to keep it fresh. Even though circulation slows bacterial growth, dust and food particles can still contaminate the water.

Q6. How often should I clean the Petwant PW-103 fountain?

Clean the pump, reservoir, and filter at least once a week. This prevents buildup of limescale, hair, or debris that could block water flow.

Q7. How do I install or replace the filter?

Remove the top cover, take out the old filter, rinse the new filter under running water, and insert it into the designated slot before reassembling the unit.

Q8. Why is my Petwant water fountain not working?

Check if the unit is plugged in and the power supply is active. Also, inspect the pump and filter for blockages. Cleaning and refilling usually resolve the issue.

Q9. Should I leave the fountain running all the time?

Yes, the fountain is designed for continuous use. However, always ensure it has enough water to avoid pump damage.

Q10. Can I use tap water in the fountain?

Yes, but filtered or boiled-cooled water is recommended to reduce mineral buildup and extend the life of the pump and filter.
