IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

Follow basic safety precautions, including:

• This appliance can be used by children aged 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, if they have been supervised/instructed and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be done by children unless they are older than 8 and supervised.
• Keep the appliance and cable out of reach of children under 8 years.
• Parts of the appliance will get hot during use.
• If you overfill, the kettle may spit boiling water.
• Use the kettle only with the stand supplied (and vice versa).
• If the cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or someone similarly qualified, to avoid hazard.
• Avoid spillage on the stand/connector.
• The surface of the heating element is subject to residual heat after use.
• Use the appliance according to these instructions. Any misuse may cause potential injury, electric shock, or other hazards.
• Do not immerse in any liquid.
• This appliance is intended to be used in household and similar applications, such as:
• staff kitchen areas in shops, offices, and other working environments;
• by clients in hotels, motels, and other residential-type environments;
• bed and breakfast-type environments;
• farm houses.
• Don’t use the kettle for any purpose other than heating water.
• Don’t operate the appliance if it’s damaged or malfunctions.

BEFORE USING FOR THE FIRST TIME

Fill to max, boil, discard the water, then rinse. Do this twice to remove any manufacturing dust, etc.

FILLING

Caution: If the kettle has just boiled, it will be full of steam. Keep your hands clear, as steam will escape from the kettle when opening the lid.

1. Remove the kettle from the power base.
2. Push the lid release button.
3. Fill the kettle with at least 2 cups of water.
4. Do not fill above the ‘max’ line. If overfilled, boiling water may be ejected from the spout.
5. Close the lid.
6. Check the lid is fully closed, or the kettle may not switch off when it boils.

USING YOUR KETTLE

1. Plug the power cord into the wall power outlet and switch it on. All temperature buttons will illuminate.
2. Place the kettle on the power base – take care not to spill any water.
3. Press the desired temperature button.
4. The button will flash, and the kettle will heat up simultaneously.
5. When the water reaches the set temperature, the kettle will switch itself off, and the flashing light will change to a solid light.
   • To switch off manually, press the illuminated temperature button or lift the kettle from the power base and replace it.
   • Note: If activated, it is necessary to deactivate the keep warm function before switching off.

TEMPERATURE SETTINGS

• Press the button for the temperature you desire.
• The temperatures available are: 100°, 95°, 90°, 80°, and 70° (°C).
• Note: When selecting temperatures below 100, you may hear the element switching on and off as your kettle works to control the temperature accurately.
• Once the kettle reaches the set temperature, the kettle will beep twice to indicate it is ready.

KEEP WARM

NOTE: The keep warm function only operates for temperatures 70°, 80°, 90°, and 95°, and does not operate with 100°C to prevent the kettle from boiling dry.

1. Press the Keep Warm button after selecting the desired temperature, or during the heating cycle.
2. The Keep Warm button will illuminate, and your kettle will maintain the water at the selected temperature for up to 2 hours.
3. During this time, the kettle may cycle on and off to maintain the temperature at the desired setting.
   • To deactivate the keep warm function, press the Keep Warm button. The function will be deactivated, and button illumination will switch off.

SLEEP MODE

If the kettle is inactive and you don’t touch the controls for 1 minute, the lights will go out to save power. To wake the kettle, press any of the controls, or lift off and replace the kettle from the power base. All temperature buttons will illuminate with a solid light.

OPTIMUM TEMPERATURES FOR TEAS AND COFFEES

The temperature of the water used in the preparation of different types of tea and coffee is important for extracting optimal flavour. The following can be used as a guideline.

GENERAL

Note: When you lift your kettle, you may see moisture on the stand. This is normal and is caused by the steam used to switch your kettle off automatically.

BOIL DRY PROTECTION

If your kettle boils dry, a safety cut-out device will automatically switch it off. If this happens, unplug your kettle and allow it to cool down until the cut-out resets itself. Allowing your kettle to boil dry will shorten the life of the element.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

1. Unplug the stand, and let the kettle cool before cleaning.
2. Wipe all surfaces with a clean, damp cloth.
3. Open the lid.
4. Using the tab at the top of the filter, pull the filter up and out of its housing.
5. Rinse the filter under a running tap while brushing with a soft brush.
6. Turn the filter so the tab at the top of the filter faces the rear of the kettle.
7. Slide it down into its guides until the tab clicks into place.
8. Close the lid.

Descale regularly (at least monthly).

Descale the appliance with a proprietary descaler. Follow the instructions on the package of the descaler.
Products returned under guarantee with faults due to scale will be subject to a repair charge.

RECYCLING

To avoid environmental and health problems due to hazardous substances, appliances and rechargeable and non-rechargeable batteries marked with one of these symbols must not be disposed of with unsorted municipal waste. Always dispose of electrical and electronic products and, where applicable, rechargeable and non-rechargeable batteries at an appropriate official recycling/collection point.

SERVICE

If you ring Customer Service, please have the Model Number to hand, as we won’t be able to help you without it. It’s on the rating plate (usually underneath the product). The product isn’t user-serviceable. If it’s not working, read the instructions, check the plug fuse, and the main fuse/circuit breaker.

If it’s still not working, consult your retailer. If that doesn’t solve the problem, ring Customer Service – they may be able to offer technical advice. If they advise you to return the product to us, pack it carefully, include a note with your name, address, day phone number, and what’s wrong. If under guarantee, say where and when purchased, and include proof of purchase (till receipt). Send it to:
