GETTING STARTED WITH YOUR SPOT CLEANER
IMPORTANT: Vacuum with a traditional vacuum cleaner first before using the Spot Cleaner.
- Lift the CarpetXpert Tank by the handle to detach it, then remove the cap.

- Add water to the CarpetXpert Tank up to the Water fill line. Then add Shark Deep Clean Pro Formula to the Concentrate fill line. Do not use water hotter than 140°F (60°C).

- Reattach the cap, then reinstall the tank until it clicks into place.

- Lift StainStriker Tank by its sides to remove it, and fill with Shark OXY Multiplier. Replace the cap and tighten it.

- Reinstall the StainStriker tank until it clicks into place.

- Attach the hand tool of your choice to the crevice tool. Plug the power cord into an electrical outlet and unwrap the hose. Turn ON the unit to begin cleaning. Combining both formulas will give you the best stain cleaning results.

For wet stains, follow the Stain Guide located on the hand tool. Turn ON using the power button and vacuum up the liquid mess. Spray the stain area. Scrub the stain with the bristles, then tilt the hand tool forward and drag across the stain area to extract liquid. Repeat if needed. To avoid longer dry times, do not overspray. For dry stains, follow the Stain Guide located on the hand tool. Turn ON using the power button. Scrub the stain with bristles, extract liquid, and then spray the stain area. Scrub stain again, then tilt the hand tool forward and drag across the stain area to extract liquid. Repeat if needed. To avoid longer dry times, do not overspray.
Tips
- For cleaning softer fabrics and easy ability to clean hair and debris from bristles, use the rubber side of the Reversible Bristles.
- To rinse carpet or upholstery after cleaning, remove or empty the StainStriker tank and fill the CarpetXpert tank with water ONLY before spraying.
MAINTENANCE
- When the Dirty Water Tank is full, there will be a change in sound as the float valve closes. Switch off the unit and detach the tank, making sure to keep it upright to prevent spills. Pull the handle back, then lift off the lid. Pour out the contents into a sink or toilet.

- Remove the hand tool from the hose by pressing the Detach Button (fig. 1). To clean the airpath in the tool, open the cover (fig. 2). Aim the hand tool into a sink or toilet and press the spray trigger to release remaining pressure.

- Clean the float valve by rinsing with water under a tap. Make sure it can move freely.

- Remove the Dirty Water Tank. Clear off any debris from the foam filter by rinsing it under a faucet. Allow the filter to air-dry completely, then reinstall it.

- To clear any clogged debris at the end of the hose, open the hose clog door on the bottom of the unit. Clear all debris, then close the door.
CLEANING THE HOSE
- Make sure the unit is turned off and remove the CarpetXpert Tank. Fill the tank with water up to the Water fill line. Tip: Add Deep Clean Pro to eliminate odor.

- Securely attach the Hose-Cleaning Tool to the Crevice Tool and turn ON the power. Pull the trigger, and the cleaning solution will be sucked into the hose to clean the interior.

Storage
- Before storing, follow the Maintenance and Cleaning Instructions above. Be sure to release all pressure from the hand tool by placing it over a sink or toilet and pressing the spray trigger until all liquid has been released. Lay out all attachments to dry.

- Once dry, reattach all tools. Wrap up the power cord, then store the hose-cleaning tool on the unit. Wrap the hose around the base of the unit and store the hand tool in its holder.

PET MESS TOOL
- The Pet Mess Tool is designed to tackle pet messes while keeping debris and liquid out of the interior of the Spot Cleaner (Pet Mess Tool not included with some units. To order tools, visit sharkaccessories.com). To use the Pet Mess Tool, attach it to the Crevice Tool, then spray, scrub gently to prevent squashing in the cup, and extract pet stains and messes. Keep the cup on the Pet Mess Tool upright to avoid spillage.

- Empty the cup after every use or when debris in the cup reaches the MAX fill line. To empty, first turn off the power, then rotate the cup clockwise and lift it off the tool. Empty the cup into the sink or trash. Lift the mesh filter, remove the left side first, then pull away to clean.

- Be sure to rinse the Pet Mess Tool, cover, rubber bristles, mesh filter, and cup with soap and water. Allow all parts to air-dry completely before reassembling. Make sure the filter clicks into place and rotate the cup to the locked position before use.

Shark PX202BRN StainStriker Portable Carpet Cleaner-FAQS
How do I use the Shark StainStriker carpet cleaner?
Fill the clean water tank, attach the hose and tool, apply solution to the stain, and gently scrub while extracting dirty water. Always follow the fill lines and instructions in the user guide.
How does the Shark StainStriker work?
It uses Shark’s dual-activated formula that mixes with water at the nozzle to break down stains, then vacuums the dirty solution into the tank.
Why is my Shark StainStriker not spraying water?
Check if the clean water tank is properly seated, ensure the nozzle isn’t clogged, and make sure the machine is powered on. Refit the tank tightly so the valve opens fully.
Do I use hot or cold water in the Shark StainStriker?
Use cold water only. If your area has hard water, distilled water is recommended.
How do you set up the Shark StainStriker for first use?
Fill the water tank, attach the hose and cleaning tool, plug in the device, and prime the trigger a few times until water flows.
How do I clean carpet step-by-step?
Vacuum first, then fill the cleaner with water and formula. Spray the solution, scrub the area, and make slow dry passes to extract moisture.
Is heat or AC better for drying carpets?
A moderate indoor temperature—around 73°F (23°C)—dries carpets best. Use AC or a fan to reduce humidity.
Can I leave the cleaning solution in the Shark StainStriker?
No. Empty and rinse the tanks after each use to avoid odors and residue buildup.
Why is water not coming out of my Shark carpet cleaner?
Make sure the tank seal is seated properly, clean the filter, and reinstall the tank so it clicks into place.
