The SIMPLE START™ Li-Ion Battery Booster is equipped with an LED indicator ring that changes color depending on the unit’s function or condition.
This guide indicates what the icons and colors mean:
HOW TO BOOST A VEHICLE
- Connect to the vehicle (two ways to connect):
- Press the main power button to turn the unit ON. The SIMPLE START™ will automatically detect the vehicle’s depleted battery and will begin the process to boost.*
- When the LED changes to solid green, the vehicle is ready to start.
*Note: Some vehicles may require you to turn the ignition key to the ACC (accessory) position to activate the DC accessory outlet.
AREA LIGHT
- Press the Main Power Button to turn the unit ON.
- Press the USB/ Light Button to turn on the LED area light.
- To turn the light OFF, press the USB/ Light Button again.
2 AMP USB PORT
- Press the Main Power Button to turn the unit ON.
- Press and hold the USB/ Light Button for 2 seconds and release to turn on the USB Charging Port. The ring around the port will turn blue.
- Plug in your USB Device to power or recharge.
- To turn off the USB charging port, press and hold the USB/ Light Button for 2 seconds and release.
Note: After 1 Minute of inactivity, the SIMPLE START™ will shut down to protect the internal battery.
HOW TO CHECK THE UNIT BATTERY STATUS
Press the Main Power Button. The LED Indicator ring will light up Blue, Yellow, or Red to indicate the unit’s Battery Status.
HOW TO CHARGE THE UNIT AT HOME
- Connect the AC adapter to the single-pin connector port on the side of the unit and plug it into a wall outlet.
- The LED Indicator ring will flash blue while charging and light solid blue when fully charged.
HOW TO CHARGE THE UNIT IN YOUR CAR
Charging Fully Charged
- Connect the DC charging cable to the Unit’s dual-pin connector and plug it into the vehicle’s accessory outlet.
- Press the Main Power button to turn the unit ON..*
- Depending on vehicle voltage, the unit may start to flash blue, indicating it is recharging.
- The LED Indicator ring will flash blue when charging and light solid blue when fully charged. Ed.
If the LED indicator flashes red, yellow, low, or green, then press the USB/Light button for 5 seconds and release to force the unit into charging mode.
*Note: Some vehicles may require you to turn the ignition key to the ACC (accessory) position to activate the DC accessory outlet.
FAULT INDICATORS
Multi-colored flashes indicate the unit is not able to perform. The Indicator ring will cycle between two colors:

Why is my Stanley Simple Start blinking blue?
A blinking blue light means the device is charging. When the light turns solid blue, it’s fully charged. During boosting, lights progress from red → yellow → green, and a solid green indicates it’s ready to start the engine.
How long should I keep the battery booster charged?
To maintain performance, recharge every 3 months. Keeping it above 80% battery helps ensure reliability during emergencies and extends its lifespan.
How does a battery booster work?
Battery boosters deliver a quick burst of power to restart a dead vehicle battery, acting like a temporary external battery until your vehicle starts and recharges itself.
How long does it take to charge a Stanley battery?
Charging times vary:
1. 1.5Ah battery: ~22 minutes
2. 2.0Ah battery: ~30 minutes
3. 4.0Ah battery: ~60 minutes
How long should I run the car after using the booster?
After jump-starting, run your vehicle for at least 30 minutes to recharge the battery sufficiently.
What does a blinking blue light on my battery mean?
A blinking blue light usually signals the battery is charging or has low power. If it persists, check the charge level or recharge the unit.
Why isn’t my Stanley thermos keeping drinks hot?
If your Stanley thermos isn’t staying hot, its vacuum insulation may be damaged, allowing air in and reducing heat retention.
How can I tell if my booster pack is fully charged?
Most models use LED indicators—solid blue or green usually means full. If not, use a multimeter; a fully charged unit should show around 12.6 volts.
Can a battery booster start a completely dead battery?
Yes, in most cases it can. But if your car doesn’t start even after using the booster, the issue may be a completely failed battery or another electrical problem.
