FAQ

Q. Does the Tethys Camera support HTTP/RTSP video feed?

  • A. For our TETHYS Wireless Security Camera, we do not support the ability for users to access the video feed via HTTP or RTSP. There are a couple of reasons for this. For starters, using an HTTP or RTSP is a very high-security risk. If someone hacks into your RTSP address, all of your personal recorded camera videos will be exposed and could be stolen or shared with hackers. Also, to get the video feed via RTSP, you have to set up your camera and your device in the same local area network. The TETHYS Wireless Security Camera is designed for live monitoring via Internet connection in real-time.

Q. How do I clean my camera lens?

  • A. Use a similar cloth that would be used to clean a pair of glasses. Please avoid touching the lens.

Q. My camera cannot connect to my Wi-Fi. What do I do?

  • A. The camera is only available to 2.4G Wi-Fi, not 5G Wi-Fi. Please check and see the Wi-Fi frequency band of the router. If you still experience problems, try the Ethernet connection.

Tethys TT000074 Wireless Security Camera-FAQs

How long does the battery of a wireless security camera last?

A fully charged wireless security camera battery typically lasts 2 to 6 months, depending on usage, settings, and environmental factors.

Can wireless security cameras work without electricity?

It depends on the type of camera. Battery-powered security cameras continue working during power outages, while traditional wireless and PoE (Power over Ethernet) cameras require electricity and will stop functioning if the power goes out.

How do wireless cameras stay powered?

Wireless security cameras use rechargeable lithium-ion or lithium-polymer batteries, which can be charged using a power adapter.

How do wireless security cameras work?

These cameras capture video footage and transmit it wirelessly via a built-in transmitter. The signal is received, decompressed, and displayed on a monitor or recording device for viewing and storage.

How do I connect my security camera to power?

For wired cameras, connect the BNC connectors to the camera and DVR, then attach the power adapter. If using an 18-gauge power wire, match the positive and negative ends to the corresponding inputs of the power supply.

Why is my wireless security camera not working?

Check if all connections, cables, and power sources are properly secured. For wireless cameras, ensure the WiFi connection is stable, and verify that the router is functioning correctly.

Can I connect a security camera to my phone without WiFi?

Yes, if your camera supports it, you can use a mobile hotspot to transmit data when WiFi is unavailable. This works best with battery-powered WiFi cameras.

Do wireless cameras require a router?

While wireless cameras can record locally without a router, some features like motion alerts and remote access require an internet connection to function properly.

How long can a wireless camera record footage?

Most home security cameras store footage for 1 to 30 days, with 14–30 days being the optimal retention period. Storage duration depends on camera settings and available storage space.

Can I leave my camera battery charging overnight?

Although it’s generally safe, overcharging can reduce battery lifespan. It’s best to unplug the charger once the battery is fully charged to prevent potential damage.
