CONTROL PANEL

BEFORE FIRST USE
- Before first use, clean the sandwich toasting plates with a damp sponge or dishcloth and dry thoroughly. DO NOT use a scouring pad or other abrasive material, as this will scratch the non-stick coating. Wipe the outside of your sandwich toaster with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly. The sandwich toaster lid must be fully closed and latched for pre-heating and cooking.
- Note: When using for the first time, you may notice a fine smoke haze being emitted from the unit; this is normal and is not harmful.
USING YOUR SANDWICH MAKER
Note: Do not use this product to cook or defrost frozen food. All food must be completely defrosted before cooking it with this product.
- Prepare your sandwich ingredients in advance.
- For the best results, lightly butter the outside of the bread or use a spread suitable for cooking. Note: Do not use low-fat spread products or those that have a high water content for greasing sandwich plates or spreading on the bread. Do not cut the bread before cooking.
- Plug the appliance into the mains socket and switch on. The red Power On indicator will illuminate, and beeps will be heard. Note: Keep the appliance latched while preheating.
- The appliance is ready for use when the green Ready to Cook Indicator (9) comes on; beeps are heard and
is illuminated on the display. Note: The temperature cannot be adjusted. Press the Latch Release Button (2) to open the appliance and place the two slices of bread onto the bottom toasting plates, buttered side down. CAUTION: Remember, the toaster plates are very hot; take care. - Add the filling. Always allow a gap around the edges of the bread. Note: Do NOT overfill the sandwiches; it makes the lid difficult to latch and may prevent a good seal from being made around the sandwich. The filling could also leak.
- Place the remaining bread on top with the buttered side on the outside.
- Using the handle, lower the lid, and apply a little pressure until the latch clips securely.
- Use the Time Increase button
or the Time Decrease
button to set the desired cooking time on the display. - Press the Start button (11) and the Time Display (12) will start to count down. Beeps will be heard when the timer reaches zero, and
illuminates on the display. - When removing sandwiches, NEVER use metal utensils. Always use a heat-proof plastic or wooden spatula.
Note: The sandwiches will take approximately 4–5 minutes until golden and cooked. However, this time should be used as a guide only, as cooking times will vary depending on the type of bread and ingredients used and personal preference.
IMPORTANT: The timer serves only as a reminder; it does NOT turn off the appliance. When cooking is complete, the appliance MUST be switched off at the mains and unplugged.
CARE AND CLEANING
IMPORTANT: Before cleaning, the sandwich toaster must be switched off at the mains and unplugged.
- Allow the toasting plates to cool down thoroughly; wipe them with a damp cloth.
- Never use abrasives or cream cleaners.
- Clean other parts of the appliance with a damp cloth or kitchen paper.
- NEVER IMMERSE THE SANDWICH TOASTER IN WATER.

Morphy Richards 450001 GrillX Toasted Sandwich Maker-FAQS
How do I use the Morphy Richards 450001 GrillX Toasted Sandwich Maker?
First, plug in the sandwich maker and allow it to preheat. Lightly butter or oil the bread, place the filling between slices, put the sandwich inside, close the lid, and let it toast until golden and crisp.
Should I preheat the sandwich maker before using it?
Yes. Preheating helps the bread toast evenly and prevents sticking. Most sandwich makers are ready once the indicator light turns off or changes color.
Do I need to butter the bread before putting it in the toastie maker?
Yes. Apply butter to the outside surface of the bread. This helps achieve a crispy texture and enhances browning.
Is it necessary to butter the outside of a toastie?
Yes. Buttering the outside ensures even grilling and prevents the bread from drying out or sticking to the plates.
How long should a sandwich stay in the toastie maker?
A sandwich usually takes 4–5 minutes to toast properly. Cooking time may vary depending on bread thickness and filling.
How do I know when the sandwich maker is ready to use?
Most models have a power or ready indicator light. Once the light stabilizes or switches off, the sandwich maker is ready.
What type of bread works best in a sandwich maker?
Thick white bread, whole wheat bread, sourdough, or flatbreads like focaccia work well. Bread with a firm crust gives the best crunch.
What is the best cheese for toasties?
Cheeses that melt well, such as cheddar, mozzarella, gouda, Swiss, or brie, are ideal for toasties.
Can I cook eggs in a sandwich maker?
Yes. You can make fried eggs, scrambled eggs, or mini omelettes using a small amount of oil on the plates.
