BEFORE FIRST USE
- Remove all packaging materials and read all instructions.
- Check that all accessories are complete and the appliance is not damaged.
- Clean all parts to remove any dust or manufacturing residue.
- Clean the water tank, ice basket, and scoop with clean water.
- The incline angle of the ice maker should not exceed 45° during transportation or use. Do not turn the ice maker upside down. Doing so could cause the compressor or refrigerating system to operate incorrectly. Please allow time for the liquid in the compressor to settle after the ice maker is moved or transported. Before using the ice maker for the first time, please wait for 2 hours after the unit has been positioned on a level surface.
- The appliance must be placed on a dry and level surface with sufficient ventilation, far from heat sources such as ovens, heaters, and corrosive gases. Leave around 15 cm clearance on all sides of the ice maker for proper ventilation.
- Do not fill the water reservoir with hot water. This may damage the ice maker. It is best to fill the water tank with water that is room temperature or lower. The water quality added to the tank should be drinkable.
- Do not use the appliance in a very cold environment (lower than 5°C).
- Run the Clean Program, as described in more detail on page 12.
USING YOUR ICE MAKER
- Ensure the drainage plug at the bottom of the water tank is closed securely.
- Plug the ice maker into a wall outlet. The POWER indicator will blink. NOTE: The appliance should be rested for 30 minutes before plugging into a wall outlet, if it has been moved.
- Open the transparent lid, remove the ice basket, and fill the water tank with drinkable water. NOTE: Do not fill above the MAX water level mark.
- Replace the ice basket and close the transparent lid.
- If you want to clean the appliance, press the SELECT button and select CLEAN during the standby mode, then press the ON/OFF button to start the cleaning program.
- The ice-making cycle will last approximately 7–15 minutes, depending on the ambient temperature and water temperature.
- The ice-making cycle begins with water being pumped into the ice tray situated below the evaporator. Over the next 7–15 minutes, ice forms on the evaporator. Once this has completed, the ice tray will tilt backwards, and the remaining water in the ice tray will be drained back into the water tank. Ice cubes are then dropped from the evaporator and pushed forward into the ice basket by the ice shovel. The ice tray will automatically move back into position under the evaporator and start the next cycle.
- The ICE FULL indicator will illuminate when the ice basket is full, and the ice maker will stop making ice automatically. Gently remove the ice from the ice basket with the ice scoop. The ice maker will restart its ice-making function automatically after approximately 5 minutes.
- The ADD WATER indicator will light up when the water tank is out of water, and the ice-making cycle will stop automatically. Remove the ice basket and add water to the water tank, then press the ON/OFF button again to restart the ice-making cycle. The appliance will start working automatically after 20 minutes if the user forgets to restart the appliance after refilling water.
- When you have the desired amount of ice, stop the ice-making cycle by pressing the ON/OFF button and unplugging the unit from the wall outlet.
- Open the transparent lid and transfer the ice to a freezer.
- Allow the ice maker to reach room temperature before storing.
CARE & CLEANING
- Clean the water tank if the appliance has water in the tank unused for 48 hours.
- If the appliance is left empty for long periods, switch off, defrost, clean, dry, and leave the lid open to prevent mould developing within the appliance.
- Tilt the appliance around 30° and move it forward to the place where the drainage plug is about 60 mm away from the countertop. Open the drainage plug and drain the excess water (see below).

- To clean the unit manually, remove the ice basket and clean the ice maker interior with a soft cloth soaked with warm water and vinegar, then rinse with clean water and drain all the water by pulling out the drainage plug (see page 11).
- Replace the drainage plug securely in position. Wash the ice basket and ice scoop in warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry.
- Clean the exterior of the ice maker with a soft, damp cloth. Use a mild dishwashing soap, if necessary.
NOTE: Do not use organic solvents, boiling water, detergent, strong acid, strong alkali, etc., for cleaning.
Clean Program
- The ice maker is equipped with a cleaning program that can be selected at any time when the unit is in standby mode. If the ice maker is in the ice-making cycle, press the On/Off button to cancel the ice-making process and allow the unit to return to the standby mode.
- Press the SELECT button until the CLEAN indicator light appears, and the CLEAN program will begin running water from the tank through the ice maker and will run for 5 cycles, with each cycle taking 60 seconds.
- The ice maker will return to standby mode when the CLEAN program finishes.
- Empty the water reservoir and dry it for storage if the ice maker will not be used for a long time.
TROUBLESHOOTING

TIPS FOR YOUR ICE MAKER
- Opening the lid for long periods can cause a significant increase in the temperature in the compartments of the appliance.
- If the appliance is left empty for long periods, switch off, defrost, clean, dry, and leave the lid open to prevent mould developing within the appliance.
- It is normal for the compressor and condenser surface to reach temperatures between 70°C and 90°C during operation, and the surrounding areas may be very hot.

NOTE: The ice-making output will vary based on the ambient room and water temperature. Below is a guide to how much ice can be produced and how often each ice-making cycle runs.

Morphy Richards MRICE12SS Compact Ice Maker-FAQs
How does the Morphy Richards MRICE12SS ice maker work?
The Morphy Richards MRICE12SS works by pumping water from its reservoir into an ice tray beneath the evaporator. Ice forms on the cooling surface within about 7–15 minutes. Once ready, the tray tilts, releasing the ice into the basket while unused water drains back into the tank for the next cycle.
How long does it take to make ice?
This compact ice maker can produce its first batch of ice in as little as 10–15 minutes, depending on room temperature and water conditions. Continuous cycles ensure a steady supply of ice for daily use, parties, or small gatherings.
Can I use tap water in the MRICE12SS ice maker?
Yes, you can use tap water. However, if your water is hard or mineral-rich, using filtered or distilled water is recommended. This helps improve ice clarity and reduces scale buildup, extending the lifespan of the ice maker.
Does the Morphy Richards compact ice maker need a water line?
No, it does not require a direct water line. The MRICE12SS is a portable countertop ice maker with a refillable water reservoir, making it easy to use anywhere with a power outlet.
Is the Morphy Richards MRICE12SS worth buying?
If you need quick, convenient ice without freezer trays or plumbing, this compact ice maker is a great choice. It’s energy-efficient, easy to use, and ideal for homes, offices, or small events.
How do I clean and maintain the ice maker?
Regular cleaning is essential. You can clean the interior with warm water and mild vinegar, then rinse thoroughly. For best results, clean the unit every few weeks and keep vents dust-free to maintain performance.
Should I throw away the first batch of ice?
Yes, it’s recommended to discard the first batch of ice when using the machine for the first time or after cleaning. This ensures any manufacturing residues or cleaning solution traces are removed.
How do I reset the Morphy Richards MRICE12SS ice maker?
To reset the ice maker, remove any ice from the tray and press the Start/Stop button to restart the machine. This simple reset can resolve minor operational issues.
