Dimplex DHCHR20D 2kW Digital Ceramic Heater-FAQs
What are the main features of the Dimplex DHCHR20D 2kW Digital Ceramic Heater?
The DHCHR20D is a 2 kW digital ceramic heater with electronic controls, ideal for heating small to medium indoor spaces. It offers two heat settings plus an ECO mode for energy-efficient heating, an adjustable thermostat (approx. 5 – 36 °C), a 0-24 hour timer, and an oscillation function to help spread warmth evenly. Safety features include overheat and tip-over protection.
How does the ECO mode work on this digital heater?
The ECO mode adjusts heat output automatically to maintain a comfortable temperature while reducing overall electricity consumption. Instead of running at full power continuously, the heater modulates heat delivery according to ambient room temperature, helping to lower running costs compared to constant high-output settings.
Is the Dimplex DHCHR20D safe to use around pets and children?
Yes, but safety precautions still apply. The unit includes tip-over safety shut-off and overheat protection to reduce fire risks if knocked or blocked. However, the outer surface and vents can become hot in use, so place the heater where pets and children can’t easily touch or topple it. Ensure clear space around it and don’t cover it.
Can this heater run all night with the timer set?
Yes, the DHCHR20D includes a 0–24-hour timer that allows you to schedule heating for specific periods. This feature lets you pre-set the heater to run and switch off automatically — useful for maintaining warmth while you sleep without constant manual operation.
How far can this heater warm a room?
With a 2 kW output, this heater is best suited for small to medium-sized rooms such as bedrooms, living areas, or offices. Performance depends on room insulation, ceiling height, and outside temperature. Users should place it centrally or in a location with good air circulation for more even warmth distribution.
Does the heater oscillate, and why is that useful?
Yes — the DHCHR20D has an oscillation function that slowly moves the heat output from side to side. This helps distribute warmth more evenly across a room rather than concentrating heat in just one area, improving overall comfort.
How do I clean and maintain this ceramic heater?
Always unplug and cool the heater before any cleaning. Wipe the external surfaces with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust. Ensure vents are clean and not blocked for proper airflow. Do not use harsh chemicals or immerse the unit in water. Regular cleaning helps performance and longevity. (General good practice for heaters.)
Can the DHCHR20D be plugged into an extension cord?
It’s recommended to plug the heater directly into a wall socket rated for the correct voltage (220–240 V). High-power appliances like 2 kW heaters can overload some extension leads and cause overheating, so direct connection to an appropriate outlet is safest.
What warranty and after-sales support does it come with?
This model typically includes a 2-year manufacturer’s warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship under normal household use. Warranty terms vary by region and seller, so always check your purchase documentation for specifics and service procedures.
Is this heater noisy during operation?
Because the DHCHR20D uses a brushless DC motor for its fan/oscillation system, it tends to be relatively quiet compared with older fan heaters. While you’ll hear some airflow noise when in use, most users find it suitable for living spaces and bedrooms without being overly intrusive.
