Initial Drive Information
This section provides a brief overview of some of the important features that may or may not be on your specific vehicle.
For more detailed information, refer to each of the features, which can be found later in this owner’s manual.
Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) System
The Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter may work up to 20 m (65 ft) away from the vehicle.
- Press the button to extend the key. The key can be used for all locks. This key is also used for the ignition if the vehicle does not have push-button start.
Press to unlock the driver door or all doors.
Press to lock all doors.
Lock and unlock feedback can be personalized.Press and hold to release the trunk.
Press and release one time to initiate the vehicle locator. Press and hold for at least three seconds to sound the panic alarm. Press again to cancel the panic alarm.

Remote Vehicle Start
With this feature, the engine can be started from outside the vehicle.
Starting the Vehicle
- Aim the RKE transmitter at the vehicle.
- Press and release
.
- Immediately after completing
Step 2: Press and hold for at least two seconds or until the turn signal lamps flash.
When the vehicle starts, the parking lamps will turn on and remain on as long as the engine is running. The doors will be locked, and the climate control system may come on.
The engine will continue to run for 10 minutes. Repeat the steps for a 10-minute time extension. Remote start can be extended only once.
Canceling a Remote Start
To cancel a remote start, do one of the following:
- Aim the RKE transmitter at the vehicle and press and hold
until the parking lamps turn off.
- Turn on the hazard warning flashers.
- Turn the vehicle on and then back off.

Door Locks
To lock or unlock the doors from the outside:
- Press
or
the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter.

To lock or unlock the doors from the inside:
- Press
or
on the center stack or the front door panels.
- Push the door lock knob on the top of the door to lock the door only.
- Pull the door handle once to unlock the door. Pulling the handle again unlatches the door.

Windows
Press the switch down to open the window. Pull the front of the switch up to close it.
The power windows only operate with the ignition in ACC/ ACCESSORY or ON/RUN/START, or when Retained Accessory Power (RAP) is active. See Retained Accessory Power (RAP) on pages 9‑23.
Express Window Operation
Windows with an express-down feature allow the window to be lowered without holding the switch. If equipped, windows may also have an express-up feature. Pull a window switch up or press it down all the way, release it, and the window goes up or down automatically. Stop the window by pulling or pressing the switch in the same direction a second time, or by briefly operating the switch to the first detent in either direction.

Seat Adjustment
Manual Front Seats
To adjust a manual seat:
- Pull the handle at the front of the seat.
- Slide the seat to the desired position and release the handle.
- Try to move the seat back and forth to be sure it is locked in place.
Seat Height Adjuster
Press and hold the top or bottom of the switch to raise or lower the seat. Release the switch when the desired height is reached.

Power Seats
To adjust a power seat, if equipped:
- Move the seat forward or rearward by sliding the control forward or rearward.
- Raise or lower the front part of the seat cushion by moving the front of the control up or down.
- Raise or lower the entire seat by moving the entire control up or down.

Lumbar Adjustment
To adjust the lumbar support, if available:
- Press and hold the front or rear of the control to increase or decrease lumbar support.
- Press and hold the top or bottom of the control to raise or lower the height of the lumbar support.

Reclining Seatbacks
Manual Reclining Seatbacks
To recline a manual seatback:
- Lift the lever.
- Move the seatback to the desired position, and then release the lever to lock the seatback in place.
- Push and pull on the seatback to make sure it is locked.
To return the seatback to the upright position:
- Lift the lever fully without applying pressure to the seatback, and the seatback will return to the upright position.
- Push and pull on the seatback to make sure it is locked.
Power Reclining Seatbacks
To adjust a power seatback, if available:
- Tilt the top of the control rearward to recline.
- Tilt the top of the control forward to raise.

Memory Features
On vehicles with the memory feature, the “1” and “2” buttons on the outboard side of the driver seat are used to manually save and recall the positions of the driver seat and outside mirrors. These manually stored positions are referred to as Button Memory positions.
The vehicle will also automatically save driver seat and outside mirror positions to the current driver’s Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter when the ignition is placed in OFF. These automatically stored positions are referred to as RKE Memory positions.

Second Row Seats
The rear seatbacks can be folded down to increase cargo space.

Heated Seats
Uplevel Climate Control System Shown, Base Similar
If available, the buttons are on the climate control panel. To operate, the engine must be running.
Press to heat the driver or passenger seat cushion and seatback. Indicator lights on the button show the current setting.
Press the button once for the highest setting. With each press of the button, the heated seat will change to the next lower setting, and then to the off setting. The lights indicate three for the highest setting and one for the lowest.

Head Restraint Adjustment
Do not drive until the head restraints for all occupants are installed and adjusted properly. To achieve a comfortable seating position, change the seatback recline angle as little as necessary while keeping the seat and the head restraint height in the proper position.

Passenger Sensing System
The passenger sensing system turns off the front outboard passenger frontal airbag and knee airbag under certain conditions. No other airbag is affected by the passenger sensing system.
The passenger airbag status indicator will light on the center stack when the vehicle is started. See Passenger Sensing System on pages 3‑27 for important information.
Mirror Adjustment
Exterior Mirrors
- Turn the selector switch to L (Left) or R (Right) to choose the driver or passenger mirror.
- Move the control to adjust the mirror.
- Turn the selector switch to
deselect the mirror.
Interior Mirror
Adjustment
Hold the rearview mirror in the center and move it to view the area behind the vehicle.
Manual Rearview Mirror
For vehicles with a manual rearview mirror, push the tab forward for daytime use and pull it rearward for nighttime use to avoid glare from the headlamps from behind. See Manual Rearview Mirror pages 2‑18.
Automatic Dimming Rearview Mirror
For vehicles with an automatic dimming rearview mirror, the mirror will automatically reduce the glare from the headlamps from behind. The dimming feature comes on when the vehicle is started.

Steering Wheel Adjustment
To adjust the steering wheel:
- Pull the lever down.
- Move the steering wheel up or down.
- Pull or push the steering wheel closer or away from you.
- Push the lever up to lock the steering wheel in place.
Do not adjust the steering wheel while driving.
Interior Lighting
Dome Lamps
The interior lamps are controlled in the overhead console controls both the front and rear interior lamps.
To operate, press the buttons:
Turns the lamps off.
Turns the lamps on when any door is opened.
Keeps the lamps on all the time.
Reading Lamps
There are front and rear reading lamps in the overhead console and the headliner.
Press the button near each lamp to turn it on or off.

Exterior Lighting
The exterior lamp control is on the instrument panel on the left side of the steering wheel.
Turns off the exterior lamps.
The knob returns to the AUTO position after it is released. Turn it on again to reactivate the AUTO mode.
In Canada, the headlamps will automatically reactivate once the vehicle is shifted out of P (Park).
AUTO: Automatically turns the exterior lamps on and off, depending on outside lighting.
Turns on the parking lamps together with the following:

Turns on the headlamps together with the following:

Windshield Wiper/Washer
The windshield wiper lever is on the right side of the steering column. With the ignition in ACC/ ACCESSORY or ON/RUN, move the windshield wiper lever to select the wiper speed.
- 2: Use for fast wipes.
- 1: Use for slow wipes.
Move the lever to
, then turn the band up for more frequent wipes or down for less frequent wipes.
Use to turn the windshield wipers off.
Briefly move the wiper lever down for a single wipe or hold down for several wipes.
Windshield Washer
Pull the windshield wiper lever toward you to spray windshield washer fluid and activate the wipers.

Transmission
Driver Shift Control (DSC) DSC allows you to change gears similar to a manual transmission. To use this feature:
- Move the shift lever from D (Drive) rearward to M(Manual).
- Press the + (plus) end of the button on the top of the shift lever to upshift, or push the − (minus) end of the button to downshift.
