BEFORE FIRST USE

  • Peel off any adhesive labels.
  • Wipe the surface of the cooking plates with a damp cloth and dry.
  • Pour a teaspoon of vegetable oil onto the non-stick coated plates. Spread over using an absorbent kitchen towel and wipe off any excess oil.

HOW TO USE

Close the sandwich maker and plug it into the wall outlet; the red power light will go on. It will take about 5 to 8 minutes to reach baking temperature. When the Green Ready Light turns on, the sandwich maker is ready to cook!

  1. Prepare desired sandwich fillings while the unit is heating up.
  2. Open the top of the sandwich maker. Season the plates with butter or margarine if desired.
  3. Place a slice of bread onto the bottom plate.
  4. Fill with desired sandwich condiments. Lay the top layer of bread over the top of filling.
  5. Close the top lid of the sandwich maker and use the clasp to fasten the handles. Steam will eject from between the sandwich maker, so please ensure that fingers do not contact with the steam.
  6. Toast for approximately 3 to 6 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Open the sandwich maker and remove sandwiches using a plastic or wooden spatula. NEVER use metal or sharp utensils to remove food, as they may scratch or damage the non-stick surface.
  8. Close the top of the sandwich maker to preserve the heat until ready to toast the next sandwiches.
  9. Unplug the unit when finished using

FOR BEST RESULTS:

  • Always preheat the sandwich maker before use. Plug the cord into a power outlet while preparing the fillings.
  • For soft or liquid sandwich fillings, use medium-sliced bread.
  • Flavored butter or margarine can also be used.
  • A teaspoon of sugar sprinkled on the outside of bread slices makes the toasted sandwiches crispier, especially for fruit-filled sandwiches.

CLEANING & MAINTENANCE

  • Clean the unit only after you have unplugged it for 2 – 3 hours.
  • Wipe the inside of the unit with a paper towel.
  • Next, wipe the non-stick cooking surface with a damp, wet cloth, which can have a little soapy water on it.
  • Wipe the exterior of the sandwich maker with a damp cloth.

Elite Gourmet ESM2207 Sandwich Panini Maker-FAQs

How long do I cook a sandwich in the panini maker?

Typically, it takes 3–5 minutes for a sandwich to cook thoroughly. The exact time depends on the thickness and fillings.

What temperature should I set my panini maker to?

For best results, set the temperature between 325°F and 375°F (medium-high heat).

Do I need to use butter or oil on the panini press?

Lightly brushing the bread with olive oil or butter helps achieve a crispy exterior, but it’s optional.

Can I make a panini without a press?

Yes! Use:
A grill pan + heavy skillet for pressing.
An oven with a baking sheet + weight (like another pan).
A toaster (for open-faced sandwiches).

How do I prevent my panini from getting soggy?

Toast the bread before assembling.
Pat dry wet ingredients (like tomatoes).
Layer ingredients properly (cheese next to bread helps seal moisture).

What’s the difference between a panini and a regular sandwich?

A panini is an Italian-style grilled sandwich, usually made with ciabatta or focaccia, pressed and served warm.

Can I eat a panini cold?

Yes, but it’s best served hot and crispy. If eating cold, skip the pressing step.

How do I clean the panini maker?

Unplug and cool completely.
Wipe plates with a damp cloth (avoid abrasive cleaners).
Remove crumbs from grooves.

Why is my panini maker smoking?

First-time use: Some smoke is normal due to manufacturing oils.
Excess oil or food residue: Clean after each use.

Can I freeze paninis for later?

Yes! Wrap tightly in foil or plastic wrap and freeze for up to 1 month. Reheat in the panini press or oven.
