FAQs
Why does the ICED coffee still brew HOT?
The Mr. Coffee Iced™ + Hot Coffeemaker brews hot, concentrated coffee directly over ice to quickly cool the hot coffee. This process not only gives you iced coffee in under 4 minutes, but also maximizes flavor extraction and leaves you with a refreshing cup of iced coffee. Our precise measurements of water, coffee grounds and ice ensure that your iced coffee is always flavorful and never watered down.
My iced or hot coffee isn’t strong enough for my taste – what now?
No problem – everyone’s tastes are different! Feel free to add an extra ½ – 1 scoop of coffee grounds to the reusable filter for a bolder cup of coffee. You can also try selecting the “OVER ICE” setting for Hot Coffee, as this pre-infuses the coffee grounds with hot water and pauses brewing cycle briefly to “bloom” the coffee grounds for best extraction.
Is the tumbler dishwasher safe?
No, the tumbler, lid and straw should be hand-washed only.
Why is there no ice left in my cup after brewing iced coffee?
Try using bigger ice cubes when making your iced coffee – these will melt slower and give you ice in your drink for longer! Also be sure you have filled your tumbler all the way to the “ICE” marking.
Why are there coffee grounds in my coffee?
You may have over-filled your reusable coffee filter with coffee grounds, and they could have spilled over the top. Although this is uncommon, try using a little less grounds next time and that should solve this problem!
Can I use a different tumbler or cup for making iced coffee?
Sure thing! Just ensure you keep the same ratio of water-ground-ice to create the best tasting iced coffee!

Mr. Coffee Iced and Hot Coffee Maker-FAQs
Q1. How do I use the Mr. Coffee Iced Coffee Maker?
Fill the tumbler with ice, pour water into the reservoir up to the iced line, add ground coffee into the filter, then press the Brew Over Ice button. The machine brews hot first, then adjusts for a strong, chilled coffee.
Q2. Can I make hot coffee with this machine?
Yes. Simply fill the water reservoir, add ground coffee in the filter basket, and press brew without adding ice. It functions like a regular drip coffee maker.
Q3. Where do I pour the water?
Water should always be poured into the water reservoir, located at the back or side of the coffee maker. Do not put water directly into the filter or tumbler.
Q4. How many scoops of coffee should I use?
Use 1–2 tablespoons of ground coffee for every 6 ounces of water. For iced coffee, using a little more helps prevent the drink from tasting weak after ice melts.
Q5. How large is the Mr. Coffee scoop?
The included scoop equals 2 tablespoons of ground coffee, which is the recommended amount for one standard cup.
Q6. What is the best coffee-to-water ratio?
The ideal ratio is 1:15 (1 gram of coffee per 15 grams of water). For a bolder cup, use 1:12. For lighter taste, use 1:17.
Q7. How hot does the machine brew?
The water heats to 195°F–205°F (90°C–96°C), which is the recommended range for proper coffee extraction.
Q8. How long does brewing take?
It usually takes 4–5 minutes for a full cycle, depending on the amount of water and coffee used.
Q9. Can I use coffee pods or only ground coffee?
This machine is designed for ground coffee only. Coffee pods or capsules are not compatible.
Q10. What kind of filters does it need?
It uses standard basket-style paper filters, which are widely available. Some models also support reusable mesh filters.
