SSONTONG 1080p DVR Dash Camera Driving Recorder-FAQs
Where is the best place to install a dash cam?
Mount it behind the rear-view mirror for the best road view without blocking your vision.
Does a dash cam drain the car battery?
During normal driving, no. In parking mode, it may slowly drain the battery if left on too long. A hardwire kit with voltage protection is recommended.
How do I know if my dash cam is recording?
Check for a red blinking light or recording icon on the screen. Some models also show “REC” when recording.
How do I delete or save dash cam footage?
You can:
Remove the SD card and transfer files to your computer.
Use the mobile app (if supported).
Delete directly from the camera menu.
How do I format the SD card?
Go to the dash cam settings → format SD card. Formatting clears all files and prevents recording errors.
Do dash cams work at night?
Yes. The SSONTONG dash cam has night vision to capture clear footage in low light, though quality depends on street lighting.
How long does a dash cam last?
On average, a dash cam lasts 3–5 years with proper care. The SD card may need replacement sooner due to frequent overwriting.
Do I need GPS in my dash cam?
Not required, but GPS adds useful details like speed, route, and location during playback.
Can I turn off audio recording?
Yes. Most models let you enable/disable audio in the settings menu.
Is it legal to use a dash cam?
Yes, but mounting laws vary. Place it where it doesn’t obstruct the driver’s view (usually behind the rear-view mirror).
