Filling the castor
NOTE: Before using the heater, the feet must be fitted to the unit.
- Ensure the heater is switched OFF and is unplugged from the power outlet.
- Carefully turn the heater upside down.
- Unscrew the wing nuts from the U-shaped bolts.
- Attach the U-shaped bolt to the unit between the first and second fin.
- To attach the castor mounting plate to the unit body, first insert the 90-degree cranked end of the U-shaped bolt through the castor plate hole. Then insert the threaded end through the other hole in the castor plate and screw on a wing nut.
- Attach the other U-shaped bolt to the unit between the eighth and ninth, and fit the other castor plate as per the
method detailed in step 5. - Ensure the two castor plates are firmly fitted and the wing nuts hand tight.
- Turn the heater upright into its normal position.

Operation
NOTE
It is normal when the heater is turned on for the first time or when turned on after having not been used for a long time period of time it may emit some odour.
This will disappear when the heater has been on for a short while
- Choose a suitable location for the heater, taking into account the safety instructions.
- Turn the thermostat to the “MIN” position and power switches to the “OFF” position.
- Insert the mains plug into a suitable wall outlet.
- Rotate the thermostat to the Max position.
- Turn on the required power switch. There are 3 heat settings:- power I = 800 Watts, power II = 1200 Watts and power III (I+ II switched on)= 2000Watts
- To control the room temperature, when the room reaches the desired temperature, slowly turn down the thermostat from Max and stop when you hear a click from the thermostat. Make a note of the number on the dial for future reference. If you do not hear a click, leave the thermostat at maximum as this will be the ideal position for the room.
- To turn the heater off, turn both power switches to the OFF position.

NOTE
Your heater is fitted with a safety overheat device to switch off the heater in the event of overheating or malfunction. If, for any reason, the heater is operated in an abnormal situation or condition that would otherwise have included a rapid temperature rise to constitute a hazard, the safety overheat device should intervene by cutting off the supply current before the temperature reaches the point at which damage may occur.
For your safety, the heater has a built-in tilt switch that switches the heater off should it be knocked over. For the heater to operate normally, it must be standing upright on a firm and level surface.
Plug replacement
Electrical connection
Any electrical work that is required to install this appliance MUST be carried out by a qualified electrician.
Warning: THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED
Before making any electrical connections, ensure that:
- Electrical safety is only guaranteed when the earth system of your house is in accordance with the related local regulations.
- Do not bend, stretch, or pull the supply cable to avoid electric shock.
- Ensure the power socket is suitable for the maximum power of the machine (fuses in the power circuit must be 13 amp).
- The supply voltage should be the same as that indicated in the technical specifications and the appliance rating plate.
- The appliance should be earthed and in compliance with the applicable law.
- When installed, the power socket must be within easy reach.
- If the socket outlets in your home are not suitable for the plug supplied with this unit, check with a qualified electrician for replacement.
- The use of adapters, multiple connectors, or extension cables is not recommended.
- The appliance must be connected to a 220- 240 volt 50Hz AC supply by means of a three-pin socket, suitably earthed and protected by a 13 amp fuse.
- Should the fuse need to be replaced, a 13 amp fuse approved to BS1362/A must be used.
- The plug contains a removable fuse cover that must be refitted when the fuse is replaced. If the fuse cover is lost or damaged, the plug must not be used until a replacement cover has been fitted or the plug is replaced.
- A damaged plug should be cut off as close to the plug body as possible, the fuse should be removed, and the plug disposed of safely.
Plug replacement (UK & Ireland only)
Should you need to replace the plug, the wires in the power cable are coloured in the following way:
- Blue – Neutral ‘N’
- Brown – Live ‘L’
- Green & Yellow – Earth ‘E’
As the colours of the wires in the power cable may not correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your plug, proceed as follows:
The green & yellow wire must be connected to the terminal in the plug that is marked with the letter E or by the earth symbol.
The blue wire must be connected to the terminal that is marked with the letter N.
The brown wire must be connected to the terminal that is marked with the letter L.
If the power supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent, or a similar qualified person, in order to avoid a hazard.

Challenge 2KW Oil Filled Radiator-FAQs
How do I use an oil-filled radiator?
Place the radiator on a flat, stable surface. Set all controls to OFF and the thermostat to minimum. Plug it in, then switch ON and adjust the heat as needed.
How long does it take to heat a room?
It usually takes 10–15 minutes to reach optimal temperature, depending on room size and insulation.
How much electricity does a 2KW radiator use?
A 2KW heater uses 2 kilowatts per hour. Depending on electricity rates, this typically costs around £0.49–0.50 per hour.
Is it cheaper to run an oil-filled radiator than other electric heaters?
Yes. Oil-filled radiators retain heat longer, reducing the frequency of power use compared to fan heaters or standard electric heaters.
Do I need to refill the oil?
No. The oil inside is sealed and designed to last the life of the radiator. No refilling or replacement is necessary.
Are oil-filled radiators safe in a closed room?
Yes. They are one of the safest electric heaters because the surface heats evenly and doesn’t reach extremely high temperatures. Avoid covering it or placing objects on top.
What is the ideal temperature setting?
For comfort, set your radiator to maintain 18–21°C (64–70°F). Adjust depending on room size and personal preference.
Can I control the heat output?
Yes. Most 2KW radiators have multiple heat settings, e.g., 800W, 1200W, 2000W, allowing you to adjust according to room size or desired warmth.
Can I use it in a small or poorly insulated room?
Yes, but a smaller setting or shorter heating duration may be sufficient. 2KW is most efficient in medium to large rooms.
Will running it continuously damage the radiator?
No, continuous use is safe if the radiator is in good working condition. Modern models include automatic shut-off and overheat protection.
