- Ensure the water tank is in the right position when putting it back; otherwise, the dehumidifier can not start up.
- If the tank is dirty, wash it with cool/warm water. Do not use cleanser, steel balls, chemically treated dust-proof cloth, gasoline, benzene, thinners, or other chemical solvents in case of damage and leakage.
Continuous Drainage
- Take out the water tank.
- Use a water hose (diameter = 9.5mm) to connect the water outlet.
- Pass the water hose through the cutting hole in the tank and put the tank back. For continuous drainage, the end of the hose should not be submerged in water to prevent it from being blocked or damaged.

Costway ES10014US 30 Pints Portable Dehumidifier-FAQs
Q1. How does a portable dehumidifier work?
A portable dehumidifier uses a fan to pull in moist air, which passes over cooled coils. The moisture condenses into water droplets that collect in a reservoir, while the dry air is released back into the room.
Q2. How do I operate this portable dehumidifier?
Simply plug in the unit, set your desired humidity level (usually between 30–50%), and let it run. Empty the water tank regularly, or connect a drain hose if your model allows continuous drainage.
Q3. What are the benefits of using a dehumidifier?
It helps control moisture, reduces mold and mildew risk, improves indoor comfort, eases allergy symptoms, protects furniture, and can even lower energy costs by making your cooling system more efficient.
Q4. How long can I run the dehumidifier?
You can safely run it for 6–12 hours at a time, depending on room size and humidity. Some users run it longer if moisture levels are very high.
Q5. Can I leave the dehumidifier running overnight?
Yes, you can. If humidity is above 70%, running it overnight helps prevent dampness and mold. However, ensure the water tank is not near full or use a drain option.
Q6. At what temperature does a dehumidifier stop working?
Most dehumidifiers stop working effectively below 41°F (5°C), as the coils may freeze.
Q7. Are there any side effects of using a dehumidifier?
Overuse can dry out the air too much, which may cause dry skin, eyes, or throat irritation. Maintain balanced humidity (30–50%) for best comfort.
Q8. Where should I place the dehumidifier?
Place it in a central spot with good air circulation, not in tight corners or against walls. This ensures proper airflow and maximum efficiency.
Q9. Does a dehumidifier remove mold?
It doesn’t kill existing mold but helps prevent new mold growth by reducing humidity levels.
Q10. How should I use the dehumidifier for the first time?
Set the humidity between 30–50%. Close windows and doors for best performance, and check the tank after a few hours to see how much water it collects.
