OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Important! The following instructions represent the Control Panel. The same instructions can be used for the Remote Control.
COOLING MODE (COOL)
In this mode, the exhaust adaptor hose MUST be used.
- Press the Mode button (MODE) until the Cooling (COOL) indicator lights.
- Press the Temperature buttons
for the desired setting.
- Press the Fan button (FAN SPEED) for desired fan speed.
HEATING MODE (HEAT) (ON SOME MODELS)

- Press the Mode button (MODE) until the Heating (HEAT) indicator lights.
- Press the Temperature buttons
for the desired heat setting.
DRY MODE (DRY)
In this mode, you do not need to use the exhaust adaptor hose, BUT the water collected must be discharged. See the “Drainage” section.
- Press the Mode button (MODE) until the Dry (DRY) indicator lights.
- The fan will run at low speed and the display will show the room temperature.
- Keep doors and windows closed for best effect.
AUTO MODE (AUTO)
- Always have the exhaust hose attached in this mode.
- When you set the air conditioner in Auto mode (AUTO), it will automatically select cooling, heating (inapplicable for cooling-only models) or fan-only operation, depending on what temperature you have selected and the room temperature.
- The air conditioner will control room temperature automatically around the temperature point set by you. Under Auto mode (AUTO) you can not select the fan speed.
FAN MODE (FAN)
In this mode, there is no need to use the exhaust hose or drainage hose. However, if you require stale or smoky air to be removed from the room, hook up the duct
accessories as described in the “Exhaustinghot Air” section.
- Press the Mode button (MODE) until the Fan (FAN) indicator lights

This new temperature will be maintained for 7 hours before it returns to the originally selected temperature. This ends the Sleep mode (SLEEP) and the unit will continue to operate as originally programmed.
- The Sleep mode (SLEEP) program can be canceled at any time during operation by again pressing the Sleep button (SLEEP).
DRAINAGE
- During the dehumidifying mode, you will need a garden hose (sold separately) to drain the condensate from the unit. Remove the rubber stopper from the hose
connector, then screw on a garden hose to the connector as shown.
The hose may then:
- Discharge into a drain that is lower than the unit.
- Be connected to a condensate pump (sold separately).

Electrolux EXP12EN1WI Portable Air Conditioner-FAQs
How does a portable air conditioner work?
A portable air conditioner pulls warm air from the room, filters out dust and particles, then cools the air as it passes over refrigerant-filled evaporator coils. The cooled air is then circulated back into the room.
How can I stop my air conditioner from turning off unexpectedly?
Ensure the air filters are clean, as dirty filters can cause overheating. Also, check that the thermostat is properly calibrated and set to the correct temperature for your environment.
How do I manually turn off my air conditioner?
Locate the Power button or switch on the unit or remote control, then press or switch it to the Off position.
What are the disadvantages of a portable air conditioner?
Portable AC units tend to be noisy, less energy-efficient, and may struggle to cool large spaces. Additionally, once the exhaust hose is set up through a window, moving the unit can be inconvenient.
Do I need to add water to my portable air conditioner?
Not necessarily. Some units use water reservoirs, but many operate with evaporative cooling pads instead, which do not require water.
Why is my portable AC not blowing cold air?
Dirty condenser coils can restrict airflow and reduce cooling efficiency. Cleaning the coils regularly can help maintain proper cooling performance.
Why does my AC turn off automatically?
A common cause is clogged air filters, which can restrict airflow and cause the unit to overheat. Regular cleaning or replacement of filters can prevent this issue.
How long should an AC run after reaching the set temperature?
An air conditioner typically runs for about 15–20 minutes per cycle before shutting off once the desired temperature is reached.
