How to Use Your Crepe-Maker

Before the First Use

  1. Carefully unpack the crepe maker and remove all packaging materials.
  2.  Wipe the cooking plate with a damp cloth, and then dry thoroughly.
  3. Plug the appliance into the wall socket.
  4. On initial use, turn the temperature knob at the highest level and keep the appliance working for 5 minutes.
  5. Then you can put food on the plate and adjust the temperature grade accordingly. It is normal to see some smoke and smell coming out during initial use.

How to Operate

  1. Plug the unit into the outlet. The power indicator light will only illuminate once the temperature dial is turned from the off position.
  2. Preheat the cooking plate on low and then grease the cooking plate with a small amount of butter.
  3.  Pour the crepe batter over the cooking plate.
  4.  Quickly spread the batter in circular movements using the wooden spreader until the desired diameter and thickness of the crepe is achieved.
  5.  Turn the unit to a higher temperature and allow the crepe to cook until the top surface is no longer runny and the crepe can be moved slightly on the cooking plate.
  6.  Insert the wooden turner under the crepe and turn the crepe over to cook the other side.
  7.  Cook the crepe until just golden.
  8. Remove the crepe from the cooking plate using the wooden turner.

NOTES:

  •  If your crepe was too dark, cook your next crepe for a shorter amount of time or at a lower temperature.
  • It takes practice to become proficient at spreading the batter. Batter will be easier to spread at a lower temperature setting. It is suggested to turn the temperature back to low between cooking crepes.
  • At the end of cooking, turn the switch to the off position, and the light will turn off. Remove the plug from the socket and let the appliance cool down.

Caution

  • Do not leave the appliance switched on when no food is being cooked for a long duration. Use a wooden spatula to move the food, but do not leave the wooden tools or any other tools on the plate for a long time. Never use metal tools or sharp objects to lift/ remove food or clean the plate; this can damage the non-stick coating and the surface of the appliance.

Cleaning and Maintenance

  • Always make sure the appliance is unplugged and cool before attempting to clean. The non-stick cooking plate can be cleaned by wiping the surface with a damp, soft cloth. When baked-on foods cannot be removed by this method, brush with a little oil. Allow to stand for 5 minutes, wipe with a damp cloth, and then dry thoroughly. To protect against electric shock, do not immerse the cord, plug, or appliance in water or any other liquid. The appliance is not dishwasher safe. Dry the appliance thoroughly before storing. Do not store anything on top of the appliance.

Recipes

  • BASIC CREPE BATTER Makes approximately 10 crepes
  • INGREDIENTS:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • · 3/4 cup of milk
  • · 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 3 eggs
  • 3/4 cup of water
  • 3 tablespoons of butter (melted)
  1. In a large bowl or blender, add the liquid ingredients and blend.
  2.  Add the dry ingredients and blend until smooth.
  3. Cover the mixture and let it stand for at least 1 hour in the refrigerator.
  4. Heat the crepe maker at a low temperature and grease the cooking surface with butter (Just before the first crepe).
  5. Pour approximately one ladle full of crepe batter in the center of the cooking surface. Using the spreader, spread with quick circular movements to create a thin, even layer of batter across the cooking surface. The crepe should be neither too thick nor too thin.
  6.  Increase the temperature and cook the crepe until the batter becomes firm and it begins to turn golden brown.
  7.  Using the wooden turner, flip the crepe over to cook the other side until golden brown.
  8.  Remove from the pan and continue with the remaining crepes.
  9. After you make all the crepes, you can fill them with what you desire.
