- To disconnect the electric kettle, turn the control off and then remove the plug from the wall outlet. To unplug, grasp the plug and pull from the outlet. Never pull from the power cord.
- Do not use the appliance for anything other than its intended use.
- Do not use for anything other than heating water. Other liquids or food will contaminate the interior and void the warranty.
- Do not allow the kettle to boil dry.
- To avoid circuit overload, do not operate another high-wattage appliance on the same circuit.
- The heater may remain hot after the kettle is turned off.
- WARNING: If the kettle is overfilled, boiling water may be ejected.
- WARNING: Scalding may occur if the lid is opened during the heating cycle.
- Be certain the kettle lid is securely in place during operation and when pouring hot water. Do not use force when placing the lid on the kettle.
- Use only the power base provided.

WARNING Electrical Shock Hazard: This appliance is provided with a grounded (3-prong) plug to reduce the risk of electric shock. The plug fits only one way into a grounded outlet. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the plug by modifying the plug in any way or by using an adapter. If the plug does not fit into the outlet, have an electrician replace the outlet.
The length of the cord used on this appliance was selected to reduce the hazards of becoming tangled in or tripping over a longer cord. If a longer cord is necessary, an approved extension cord may be used. The electrical rating of the extension cord must be equal to or greater than the rating of the appliance. The extension cord must be a grounding-type, 3-wire cord. Care must be taken to arrange the extension cord so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop, where it can be pulled on by children or accidentally tripped over. To avoid an electrical circuit overload, do not use another high-wattage appliance on the same circuit with this appliance.

How to Use
WARNING: Burn Hazard. Do not overfill the kettle. Boiling water may spit out of the spout.
Before first use: To open the lid, hold the lid opener grip and pull up. Fill the Kettle with water to the 1.7 L MAX fill line on the Water Level Window. Push the lid down until it locks in place. Place the Kettle on the Base. Plug into the outlet. Press the Power Switch down to turn the kettle on. The kettle will bring water to a boil, then shut off automatically. Discard water and repeat 2 times, rinsing out the kettle each time. The kettle is now ready for use.
- To open the lid, hold the Lid Opener Grip and pull up. Fill the kettle with water. Do not fill above the MAX fill line or below the 0.5 L MIN fill line.
- Push the lid down until it locks into place, and place the Kettle on the Base.
- Plug into the outlet.
- Press the Power Switch down, and the Orange ON Light will illuminate while heating. The kettle will automatically shut off when the water has boiled, and the Power Switch will move up to OFF
. Unplug. - To remove the Water Filter: The Water Filter is visible through the Lid opening. Pull up on the Water Filter Handle to remove. Rinse the filter periodically. WARNING: Burn Hazard. Allow the kettle to cool before attempting to remove the water filter.
- To replace Water Filter: While holding Water Filter Handle facing inward, insert Filter, aligning Water Filter Alignment Tabs. Then press down on the Water Filter Handle to slide it into place. The filter will fit only one way.
. Unplug.NOTE: Only use the kettle to heat water. If the Kettle is used to heat other liquids, such as coffee or tea, the warranty will be voided.
If Kettle Boils Dry: The heating element is protected by two automatic safety devices. If your Kettle is accidentally switched on without being filled with water, or is allowed to boil dry, Kettle will automatically switch off. You should:
- Lift the Power Switch up to turn OFF , unplug, and wait about 20 minutes for the element to cool down.
- Refill the Kettle; then use it as normal and check that the Kettle functions correctly.
If the kettle does not work: Make these simple checks before visiting hamiltonbeach.com:
- Have you turned Power Switch down to the ON (I) position?
- If the kettle heats but does not boil, it might need descaling.
- Has the kettle been accidentally switched on without being filled with water or allowed to boil dry? Lift Power Switch to OFF , wait 20 minutes, and try again.
- Is the cord firmly plugged into the outlet, and the kettle firmly seated on the base?
Anti-Scale Water Filter:
Scale is caused by lime and calcium in hard water. The water filter will prevent these suspended particles from being poured out of the Kettle. The filter should be cleaned periodically to ensure optimum performance. To clean the filter, unplug the kettle and allow it to cool. Lift on Water Filter Handle to remove. Rinse the filter under running water and brush with a soft brush. An old, clean toothbrush works well. To insert the Water Filter, hold the Water Filter Handle facing inward, insert the Water Filter, aligning the Water Filter Alignment Tabs. Then press down on the Water Filter Handle to slide it into place.
Care and Cleaning
WARNING: Electrical Shock Hazard. Do not immerse the kettle, power base, or plug in water or other liquid.
- With the kettle unplugged, empty any remaining water and rinse. Allow the kettle to cool. To avoid scale/lime deposit buildup, empty the Kettle after each use.
- To remove discoloration of scale/lime deposit from heating element: Place 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar (available in the spice aisle of a grocery store) into the Kettle. Then fill Kettle 1/2 full with water. Plug in, turn ON (I), and bring to a boil. Turn OFF , let cool, and rinse several times with clean tap water.
- Wipe the exterior of the Kettle with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive scouring pads or powders since they may scratch the Kettle surface.
Limited Warranty
This warranty applies to products purchased and used in the U.S. and Canada. This is the only express warranty for this product and is in lieu of any other warranty or condition.
This product is warranted to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of five (5) years from the date of original purchase in Canada and one (1) year from the date of original purchase in the U.S. During this period, your exclusive remedy is replacement of this product or any component found to be defective, at our option; however, you are responsible for all costs associated with our returning a product or component under this warranty to you.
