IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

Follow basic safety precautions, including:

•  The surface of the heating element is subject to residual heat after use.
• Use the appliance according to these instructions. Any misuse may cause potential injury, electric shock, or other hazards.

BEFORE USING FOR THE FIRST TIME

Fill the reservoir to the max mark, and run the appliance without coffee.

PREPARATION

1. Open the water tank lid (Fig. A).
2. Fill the water tank with the desired quantity of cold, fresh water. Don’t exceed the max markings (Fig. B).
3. Close the lid.
4. Open the filter compartment lid.
5. Open up a #4 paper filter, and put it into the filter holder.
6. The reservoir is calibrated to give 10 large cups (at 125 ml per cup) and 15 small cups (at 83 ml per cup). For each large cup, add 7 g of ground filter coffee, and for each small cup, add 5 g.
7. Place the carafe onto the warming plate (Fig. D).

MAKING COFFEE

1. If you have not already done so, prepare your coffee maker as described under PREPARATION.
2. Press the button to start brewing (Fig. E).
3. To cancel brewing, press the button.
4. The warming plate will keep the brewed coffee warm for approximately 40 minutes.
5.  Warming plate active light – when lit, the warming plate is HOT!

ANTI DRIP

The anti-drip lever closes a valve to prevent any drips from splashing onto the warming plate when you remove the carafe.

• Moving the lever to the left will close the valve, and the anti-drip icon J will be displayed.
• Moving the lever to the right will open the valve, and the icon will go out.
• If you attempt to brew coffee when the lever is in the closed position, your coffee maker will sound an alert tone and the icon will flash until you open the valve.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

Cleaning

1. Unplug the appliance and let it completely cool down.
2. Clean the exterior surfaces with a slightly damp cloth and then dry them thoroughly.
3. Remove the filter and filter holder and empty out the coffee grounds. Wash under running water and dry thoroughly.
4. Wipe the filter holder compartment with kitchen paper.
