- Do not run the power cord under the carpeting. Do not cover the cord with throw rugs, runners, or similar coverings. Arrange the cord away from the traffic area where it will not be tripped over.
- To disconnect the heater, turn the controls off then remove the plug from the outlet.
- Do not insert or allow foreign objects to enter any ventilation or exhaust opening as this may cause an electric shock or fire or damage the heater.
- To prevent a possible fire, do not block air intakes or exhaust in any manner. Do not use on soft surfaces like a bed, where openings may become blocked.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
POWER INDICATOR: This heater is equipped with a power indicator light. The power indicator light, located near the power control, lights whenever the heater is plugged in.
TURNING HEATER ON:
To start the heater, turn the ON/OFF POWER LEVEL/FAN Dial from the OFF position to the LOW (1300W) or HIGH (1500W) setting. Then rotate the THERMOSTAT CONTROL clockwise to the HIGH THERMOSTAT position as described below.
NOTE: During the heater’s initial use, you may experience a slight odor or smoking. This is the result of the heating element fabrication protective coating “burning off”. This is normal and will go away after a few minutes of use.
CONTROL PANEL
POWER CONTROL DIAL: This heater has two heat settings: High (1500W) and Low (1300W). Use the higher setting (1500 W) to raise the room temperature quickly. When the desired temperature is reached use the Low (1300 W setting. It is usually sufficient to maintain a comfortable temperature.
ADJUSTABLE THERMOSTAT: After the heater has been turned on and the room has reached the desired temperature, slowly rotate the thermostat control dial counter-clockwise until the heater shuts off (you should hear a faint “click”). By leaving the thermostat at this setting it will automatically maintain this temperature. To lower the temperature, rotate the knob further counter-clockwise (towards the LOW position). To raise the temperature, rotate the thermostat knob clockwise (towards the HIGH
position).
ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
Before initial use, some assembly is required. With a Phillips screwdriver, attach the handle to the heater body using the screws provided as shown.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
CLEANING
CAUTION – Before cleaning the heater be sure to disconnect the power cord and allow the heater to cool completely. Clean the outside surface with a clean damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. DO NOT IMMERSE THE HEATER IN WATER. Allow the heater to dry completely before use. Any other service should be performed by an authorized service representative.

Utilitech BNS-15U Indoor Electric Space Heater-FAQs
What are the safety rules for using a space heater?
Keep the heater at least three feet away from flammable materials like clothing, papers, and rugs. Avoid placing it in high-traffic areas or doorways where it could be a tripping hazard. Always plug it directly into a wall outlet, not an extension cord.
How does a space heater work?
Space heaters use either convection or radiant heating. Radiant heaters emit infrared heat that warms objects and people nearby, while convection heaters circulate warm air throughout the room.
Do space heaters use AC or DC power?
Most space heaters run on AC power, as they are purely resistive devices. However, they can operate on either AC or DC power if properly designed.
What is the biggest drawback of electric space heaters?
While electric space heaters are generally safe and don’t produce emissions, they still pose fire and burn hazards if not used correctly.
How long is it safe to run a space heater?
It’s generally safe to use a space heater for 6-8 hours if you are in the room and monitoring it.
Do space heaters turn off automatically?
Yes, many modern space heaters have automatic shut-off features, such as tip-over protection and thermostatic controls, to prevent overheating and reduce fire risks.
What is the working principle of an electric heater?
Electric heaters work on the principle of Joule heating, where an electric current passes through a resistor, converting electrical energy into heat energy.
What is the purpose of a space heater?
Space heaters are designed to provide targeted heating for a single room or small area by circulating warm air, making them an efficient choice for supplemental heating.
How quickly can a space heater warm a room?
Most space heaters can raise a room’s temperature within 30 minutes, depending on the room size and insulation.
