3 Intended use

Retain this document for future reference. It is an important part of the device and must be kept with it if you pass it on to someone else. Use the device and accessories only for their intended purpose to prevent risks to you and other people and to prevent damage to the device or to other property and equipment. The device is not intended to be used by children under 8 years of age. Cleaning and user maintenance should not be carried out by children under 8 years of age.

This device is not intended to be used by persons (including children aged 8 years and above) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge unless they are supervised by a person responsible for their safety, or have been given instruction from this person concerning the safe use of the device, and understand the hazards involved. Children must not be allowed to play with the device or the chargers (including the cable and plug). Cleaning and user maintenance must not be carried out by children aged 8 years and above without supervision.

This appliance may only be used for its intended purpose. No other use is permitted. The manufacturer bears no responsibility for damages resulting from improper use. If the appliance is subject to technical modifications, the warranty and liability for material defects shall be rendered invalid. If technical modifications are made to the product, the manufacturer’s obligation to compensate for product liability and/or the dealer’s obligation to compensate for material defects shall no longer apply.

When working with the device, please observe all the accompanying documentation as well as the device display. The manufacturer accepts no liability for damages resulting from improper use. The device complies with the safety regulations of the country in which it has been sold by an authorized Vorwerk organization. If the device is used in another country, compliance with the local safety standards cannot be guaranteed. Vorwerk therefore assumes no liability for any resulting safety risks for the user.

Kobold VK7 cordless handheld vacuum cleaner

The Kobold VK7 cordless handheld vacuum cleaner is solely intended for removing dirt and dust within domestic areas and is only suitable for indoor use. This also includes use for typical household applications in shops, offices, and similar work environments, agricultural operations, by customers in hotels, motels, bed and breakfast operations, and similar living environments. The Kobold VK7 cordless handheld vacuum cleaner may only be used with the corresponding Kobold accessories.

Kobold EB7 automatic electric floor brush

Your Kobold EB7 automatic electric floor brush should be used solely for cleaning floors and carpets in domestic areas. The Kobold EB7 automatic electric floor brush may only be used in combination with a Kobold VK7 cordless handheld vacuum cleaner. The Kobold EB7 automatic electric floor brush is intended for use on different types of floors [22]. The following types of carpet and flooring must not be cleaned with the automatic electric floor brush: fur rugs, flokati rugs, unsealed cork flooring, unsealed soft wood flooring, Belgian granite, delicate natural stone flooring, rough concrete flooring (e.g., washed concrete).

Kobold SP7 2-in-1 wet and dry cleaning attachment

Your Kobold SP7 2-in-1 wet and dry cleaning attachment should be used solely for cleaning hard floors in domestic areas. The Kobold SP7 2-in-1 wet and dry cleaning attachment may only be used in combination with a Kobold VK7 cordless handheld vacuum cleaner. It is intended for use on various types of hard floors [} 52]. It is suitable for use on floors that can be wet cleaned according to the manufacturer’s recommendations. The following types of flooring must not be wet cleaned: untreated cork flooring, untreated tiled flooring, and untreated softwood flooring.

Kobold HD7 hard floor brush

Your Kobold HD7 hard floor brush should be used solely for cleaning hard floors in domestic areas. The Kobold HD7 hard floor brush may only be used in combination with a Kobold VK7 cordless handheld vacuum cleaner. It is intended for use on the types of hard floors specified in the table “Suitability for different types of floors” [} 65].

Kobold PB7 electric upholstery brush

Your Kobold PB7 electric upholstery brush should be used solely for cleaning in domestic areas. The Kobold PB7 electric upholstery brush may only be used in combination with a Kobold VK7 cordless handheld vacuum cleaner. It is intended only for the care of upholstered furniture.

Kobold MP7/MR7 mattress cleaning set

The Kobold MP7/MR7 mattress cleaning set may only be used in combination with a Kobold VK7 cordless handheld vacuum cleaner and a Kobold PB7 electric upholstery brush. It is intended only for the care of mattresses. It is not suitable for upholstered furniture.

Kobold accessories

The extendable Kobold SB7 suction hose for accessories, the Kobold FD7 surface nozzle, the Kobold VD7 variable nozzle, the Kobold TR7 telescopic tube, the Kobold CD7 car nozzle, the Kobold TD7 textile nozzle, the Kobold SG7 shoulder strap, and the Kobold AD7 adapter for previous accessories may only be used with the Kobold VK7 cordless handheld vacuum cleaner. These accessories are suitable for a variety of cleaning tasks above floor level. The shoulder strap is intended exclusively for use by adults. When cleaning above floor level, the cordless handheld vacuum cleaner must be held securely or set down.

Kobold PC7 dual battery charger

The Kobold PC7 dual battery charger may only be used with the Kobold VK7 modular cleaning system. The Kobold PC7 dual battery charger is intended for charging the Kobold VK7 cordless handheld vacuum cleaner and one additional Kobold VK7 battery. The Kobold PC7 dual battery charger must not be stored or operated outdoors and must be protected from moisture.

Kobold SC7 single charger

The Kobold SC7 single charger must only be used with the Kobold VK7 modular cleaning system. The Kobold SC7 single charger is intended for charging the Kobold VK7 cordless handheld vacuum cleaner. Using the Kobold CA7 charging adapter, a separate battery can be charged. The Kobold SC7 single charger must not be stored or operated outdoors and must be protected from moisture.

6.1 Product overview

6.2 Getting started

6.2.1 Opening and closing the rotating handle

The rotating handle on the cordless handheld vacuum cleaner is folded down on delivery.

1. To open the rotating handle, press the release button (1) on the pivot of the cordless handheld vacuum cleaner.
2. Now turn the rotating handle clockwise (2) until you hear a click.
3. To fold the rotating handle in again, press the release button (1) on the pivot of the cordless handheld vacuum cleaner.
4. Now turn the rotating handle anticlockwise (3) until you hear a click.

The rotating handle clicks into place in the handle lock on the front of the cordless handheld vacuum cleaner (4). With the handle folded down, the cordless handheld vacuum cleaner is easy to carry or use with the shoulder strap, making it ideal for cleaning areas above floor level, see Cleaning upholstery or Cleaning mattresses, or Nozzle set. It also takes up less space when stored or charging.

6.2.2 Attaching and unlocking the accessory head

Attaching the accessory head

The attachment process is the same for all the accessory heads:

1. Connect the attachment socket on the cordless handheld vacuum cleaner (1) to the joint connector on the accessory head (2).
2. Make sure you hear the attachment socket click into the joint connector.

Unlocking the accessory head

1. To disconnect the cordless handheld vacuum cleaner from the accessory head again, first put the cordless handheld vacuum cleaner on the floor.
2. Release the accessory head by pulling the remote unlocking catch (3) (at the top of the rotating handle) upwards.

Once unlocked, you can remove the cordless handheld vacuum cleaner from the accessory head. You can also put your foot on the accessory head as you detach the cordless handheld vacuum cleaner from it. This makes it easier to remove the cordless handheld vacuum cleaner from the accessory head.

6.2.3 Standby position

You can either use the cordless handheld vacuum cleaner together with an accessory head on the power setting (2) or set it to standby (1). The standby position is used for storing your cordless handheld vacuum cleaner when you are not using it. You can also park it in this position if you want to take a short break while cleaning. In the standby position, the device stands upright and firmly on the floor.

Setting and releasing the standby position

The process described here applies only to the automatic electric floor brush [} 43] and the hard floor brush [} 64]. For instructions on setting and releasing the standby position on the 2-in-1 wet and dry cleaning attachment, see Standby position.

Putting the device into the standby position

You can only put the cordless handheld vacuum cleaner into the standby position when it is centered.

• Push the cordless handheld vacuum cleaner forward (1).
• The cordless handheld vacuum cleaner clicks into the standby position.

Taking the device out of standby position

• Hold the accessory head firmly in place with your foot and tilt the handle of the cordless handheld vacuum cleaner back until you hear it disengage from the standby position (2).
• The cordless handheld vacuum cleaner is now in the power setting.

6.3 Charging

6.3.1 Before charging for the first time

• Remove the protective film from the battery.
• On rare occasions, additional graphics may briefly appear on the display directly after the protective films have been removed. These will disappear on their own after a few moments.

6.3.2 Charging with different chargers

You can charge the cordless handheld vacuum cleaner with the single charger 27] or the dual battery charger  81]. You cannot use the cordless handheld vacuum cleaner while it is charging.

6.3.3 Charging with the single charger

1. Put the cordless handheld vacuum cleaner into the standby position [} 25].
2. Note the prescribed mains voltage of 220-240 V AC.
3. Connect the single charger to the power supply.
4. Insert the charging connector (2) into the socket on the cordless handheld vacuum cleaner (1) and slide it upwards.
5. The display lights up, and charging is active.

6.3.4 Charging a separate battery with the single charger

You can also charge a battery separately. This is useful if, for example, you want to work with an additional battery.

1. Place the charging adapter (1) on a clean, solid, and even surface so that it cannot slip.
2. Insert the charging connector (2) into the charging adapter (1).
3. Place the cable in the guide provided.
4. Note the prescribed mains voltage of 220-240 V AC.
5. Connect the single charger to the power supply.
6. Insert the separate battery (3) into the charging adapter.
7. The display lights up, and charging is active.

6.4 Display

6.4.1 Charging display

As soon as you start charging the cordless handheld vacuum cleaner, the display switches to the charging display.

3. The flashing dot indicates that the battery is charging

When the battery is fully charged, a smiley appears on the display. After 2 minutes, the display goes out. Charging time is approx. 2 hours, depending on the ambient conditions.

6.4.2 System and power display

Power level and battery charge level

1. Power display, or moisture setting for the 2-in-1 wet and dry cleaning attachment [} 57]. For further information on setting the suction power level, see Selecting the power level [} 30].
2. Battery charge level in per cent. For further information on the battery running time, see Battery running times [} 32].

The indicators on the display are approximate values.

System display

6.5 Operation

The orientation of the +/- buttons remains the same with the handle open or closed.

6.5.1 Switching on and off

The cordless handheld vacuum cleaner must be fully charged [} 26] before first use.

1. Always unplug the charging connector from the cordless handheld vacuum cleaner before switching it on. Otherwise, the cordless handheld vacuum cleaner will not switch on.
2. Switch the cordless handheld vacuum cleaner on at the on/off switch (1).
   The display switches on. The power or moisture level and battery charge level (in per cent) are displayed.
3. Switch the cordless handheld vacuum cleaner off at the on/off switch (1).
4. The display goes out. If Bluetooth® is activated, it will remain active for another 3 minutes or so. The Bluetooth® symbol will then also go out.

6.5.2 Selecting the power level

The power level or moisture level is selected using the +/- buttons (1). The different power levels and moisture levels are specially designed for specific uses:

• Kobold EB7 automatic electric floor brush [} 45]
• Kobold SP7 2-in-1 wet and dry cleaning attachment [} 57]
• Kobold HD7 hard floor brush [} 66]
• Kobold PB7 electric upholstery brush with Kobold MP7/MR7 mattress cleaning set [} 71]

6.5.3 Boost button

By pressing the boost button (1) on the back of the handle, you can switch the cordless handheld vacuum cleaner to maximum power. The power display flashes in boost mode (2). The boost mode is useful if, for example, you want to clean a particularly dirty section of floor. For more information on the boost mode for each accessory head, see:

6.6 Smart Home: Bluetooth® and MyKobold app

The MyKobold app offers many useful features, allowing you to customize the way you use your cordless handheld vacuum cleaner. The app also contains information on the devices as well as helpful tips for troubleshooting.

6.6.1 Installing and pairing the MyKobold app

1. Download the MyKobold app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and install it on your smartphone or tablet. You can find the app under the name MyKobold.
2. Launch the app and follow the instructions to connect your cordless handheld vacuum cleaner to the MyKobold app and to enable Bluetooth®.

Bluetooth®

The screen and charging display function differently if Bluetooth® is enabled on the cordless handheld vacuum cleaner. In standby, the screen displays the Bluetooth® symbol for the first three minutes instead of being completely black.

To use your cordless handheld vacuum cleaner with the MyKobold app, please take note of the following:

• An internet connection is required.
• To use all the features on the MyKobold app in conjunction with the cordless handheld vacuum cleaner, you need to set up a free user account with your email address.
• The MyKobold app is compatible with all current smartphones and tablets with iOS or Android operating systems. For information on currently supported devices, see the MyKobold app page in the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.
