HOW TO USE YOUR RICE COOKER

When the appliance is operating for the first time, there may be a slight burning odor as the heating elements warm up. This represents no danger to the user and does not indicate a defect in the appliance. Allow the appliance to heat up until the odor clears.

To Cook Rice:

  • Place the appliance on a flat, stable surface. Caution: Because some countertop finishes are more sensitive than others, use care not to place the appliance on surfaces where heat may cause damage. Note: Do not place the rice cooker directly underneath your cabinets or too close to a wall.
  • Using the measuring cup provided, measure out the desired amount of rice to make. Use the rice cooking chart provided in this manual as a reference.
  • Place rice in the cooking bowl. Note: For softer rice, allow rice to soak for 1 – 20 minutes before cooking.
  • Using the measuring cup provided or the water level markings located inside the cooking bowl, add the appropriate amount of water. Refer to the rice cooking chart.
Note: Be careful not to add too much water, as it may cause the unit to boil over.
  • Add butter, oil, and/or seasonings as desired.
  • Before placing the cooking bowl into the cooker, make sure the heating plate and outside surface of the cooking bowl are clean and dry.
  • Insert the cooking bowl into the cooker. Note: Do not let loose rice or particles fall into the cooker.
  • Cover the unit with a glass lid. Caution: To avoid loss of steam and longer cooking times, do not open the lid at any point during the cooking process.
  • Plug into a standard 120-volt AC outlet. The orange indicator light comes on (WARM)
  • Press down the ON switch. The red indicator light (COOK) comes on, and cooking begins. Caution: As the rice expands and cooks, steam comes out through the steam vent on the lid.
  • When the rice is ready, the unit will automatically switch to warm mode, and the orange light indicator will come on. Note: Do not press the ON switch again after the keep warm cycle has begun. Note: Warm mode will keep rice at serving temperature.
  • After the switch pops up, leave the lid closed for at least 15 minutes to further steam the rice. Note: If leaving the rice for longer than 30 minutes, stir occasionally to prevent browning of rice on the bottom of the cooking bowl.
  • Remove the lid and stir the rice before serving.
  • Unplug the unit from the wall outlet and allow the appliance to cool completely.
Caution: The appliance has no ON/OFF button. Make sure you unplug the appliance when not in use.
