KitchenAid KGC3155BM Grain and Rice Cooker-FAQs
Is the KitchenAid rice cooker dishwasher-safe?
Yes, the ceramic pot is dishwasher-safe. However, hand washing with hot, soapy water is recommended to extend the life of the non-stick coating. Make sure to clean the ceramic pot, inner lid, and steam collector after every use.
What can I cook in the KitchenAid Grain and Rice Cooker?
You can cook a wide variety of grains and legumes including rice, oats, quinoa, couscous, barley, farro, and beans—thanks to 21 built-in preset options.
Can I use stainless steel in a rice cooker?
Yes. Stainless steel is safe, durable, corrosion-resistant, and non-toxic even at high temperatures. It’s a great material for cooking rice.
Does the KitchenAid rice cooker use pressure to cook?
It uses steam pressure created from boiling water. The heating element brings the water to a boil, producing steam that evenly cooks the grains.
What makes a rice cooker better than cooking rice on the stove?
A rice cooker offers consistent results, foolproof cooking, and greater energy efficiency compared to traditional stovetop methods.
How much water should I use for long grain rice?
Use a 2:1 water-to-rice ratio for soft, fluffy rice. For a firmer texture, reduce the water slightly to a 1:1 ratio.
How do I operate the KitchenAid Grain and Rice Cooker?
Add your grains or beans to the ceramic pot. The built-in scale will weigh the ingredients automatically. Select your recipe from the menu, and the cooker will dispense the right amount of water and set the ideal cooking time.
How does a rice cooker work?
The cooker contains a heating plate that heats the pot. When the water reaches boiling point, it creates steam which cooks the rice evenly.
