SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS

Electrical Shock Hazard: This appliance is provided with either a polarized (one wide blade) or grounded (3-prong) plug to reduce the risk of electric shock. The plug fits only one way into a polarized or grounded outlet. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the plug by modifying the plug in any way or by using an adapter. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, have an electrician replace the outlet.

The length of the cord used on this appliance was selected to reduce the hazards of becoming tangled in or tripping over a longer cord. If a longer cord is necessary, an approved extension cord may be used. The electrical rating of the extension cord must be equal to or greater than the rating of the appliance. If the appliance is of the grounding type, the extension cord should be a grounding-type, 3-wire cord. Care must be taken to arrange the extension cord so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or accidentally tripped over. To avoid an electrical circuit overload, do not use another high-wattage appliance on the same circuit with this appliance.

  1. Plug into outlet. The POWER ON light will illuminate and stay on until the unit is unplugged. Turn temperature control dial from Min to Max to adjust waffle doneness. Min for light brown waffles and Max for crispy brown waffles.
  2. Preheat with lid closed until READY light illuminates. This light will cycle on and off during baking.
  3. Use a cooking spray before pouring batter onto the grids, especially for dessert waffles or recipes with sugar.

  5. Waffles are done in about 3 to 6 minutes, depending on recipe, or when steaming begins to stop. Remove waffle with plastic or wooden utensil. Never use metal. This will damage the nonstick coating.
  6. Unplug. Let cool.

Care and cleaning

Electric Shock Hazard. To reduce the risk of electrical shock, do not immerse the cord, plug, or base in water or any other liquid.

  1. Unplug and let cool.
  2. Wipe cooking grids and outside of unit with a damp, soapy cloth. Rinse cloth and wipe grids again.
  3.  Do not use steel wool, scouring pads, or abrasive cleansers on any part of the unit. Never use sharp or pointed objects for cleaning purposes.
  4. Always allow the appliance to cool down completely before storing.

Usage tips

  • Most waffle recipes can be poured directly onto the nonstick cooking grids. Use a cooking spray for dessert waffles or any recipe with a lot of sugar. If your waffles start to stick, the grids may need to be scrubbed with a nylon brush to remove any cooked-on food particles.
  • Waffles can be made ahead of time and kept warm in a 200°F (93°C) oven.
  • To store waffles, let cool and then pack in an airtight container. Store in refrigerator or freezer. Waffles can be reheated in a microwave oven, a toaster oven, or a regular oven.
  • Most waffles are done in about 3 to 6 minutes. Recipes made from scratch may take longer. Check for doneness after approximately 5 minutes or when the steaming stops. If the lid doesn’t lift easily, let waffles cook a minute more before checking again.

Hamilton Beach Belgian Waffle Maker-FAQs

Q1. How do I use my Hamilton Beach Belgian waffle maker?

Plug in the unit and allow it to preheat until the green indicator light turns on. Pour the recommended amount of batter onto the center of the bottom plate, close the lid, and let the waffle cook until the indicator signals it’s ready.

Q2. How much batter should I use?

Use about 2/3 to 3/4 cup (158–177 ml) of batter per waffle. Avoid overfilling to prevent overflow.

Q3. Do I need to preheat the waffle maker?

Yes. Always preheat until the green light turns on, which ensures even cooking and prevents sticking.

Q4. How do I know when my waffle is done?

The green indicator light will come back on when the waffle is cooked. On average, waffles take 3–6 minutes, depending on thickness and desired crispiness.

Q5. How long does it take for the Hamilton Beach waffle maker to heat up?

Preheating typically takes about 5–10 minutes before the first batch.

Q6. Should I spray oil on the plates?

Most Hamilton Beach waffle makers have a non-stick coating, but lightly spraying with vegetable oil before cooking can help prevent sticking. Avoid olive oil or heavy sprays that can leave residue.

Q7. Can I use pancake mix in this waffle maker?

Yes, but you may need to adjust the recipe by adding a bit more fat (oil or butter) to achieve crispier waffles.

Q8. What’s the difference between Belgian waffles and regular waffles?

Belgian waffles are thicker, lighter, and airier with deeper pockets, while regular waffles are usually denser and flatter.

Q9. How do I clean my Hamilton Beach waffle maker?

Unplug and let it cool completely. Wipe plates with a damp cloth or sponge. Do not immerse the appliance in water. Avoid harsh cleaners or metal utensils that could damage the non-stick surface.

Q10. Can I wash the waffle maker in the sink or dishwasher?

No. The appliance is not dishwasher safe. Only detachable drip trays (if included) may be washed separately.
