OPT7 Truck Redline Tailgate LED Light Bar-FAQs
How does an LED light bar work?
An LED light bar is made of multiple LEDs (light-emitting diodes) arranged in a row. When connected to your truck’s power system, electricity flows through the semiconductors inside the LEDs, producing bright light through a process called electroluminescence.
What is the purpose of a light bar on a truck?
A tailgate light bar improves visibility and safety. It enhances brake lights, turn signals, and reverse lights, making your truck more noticeable at night or in bad weather.
How do I connect the OPT7 light bar to my truck?
Attach mounting brackets or adhesive backing.
Secure the light bar under the tailgate.
Disconnect the truck battery.
Connect the wiring harness to the truck’s electrical system.
Reconnect the battery and test the functions.
Do I need a relay when wiring a light bar?
For small light pods, a relay may not be necessary. But for larger light bars that draw higher current, using a relay switch is recommended for safe and stable operation.
Why is my LED light bar not working?
Check for a blown fuse.
Test the wiring connections.
Connect the bar directly to a 12V battery to confirm the LEDs are good.
If it lights up when directly connected, the issue is in the harness or switch.
How do I test a light bar before installation?
Plug the light bar into its harness (if plug-and-play) and power it on. Make sure all functions—brake, turn, and reverse—are working properly before mounting.
How do I reset the light bar?
Disconnect both the power connector and control cable for at least 5 seconds, then reconnect. The LEDs will flash once to confirm reset.
Can I drive with the LED light bar on?
No. Tailgate LED light bars are not street-legal as standalone driving lights. They must remain off while driving on highways unless used as part of your brake, turn, or reverse signals with proper covers.
