BEFORE FIRST USE
This portable icemaker uses a fully automatic control system, with an advanced microcomputer for easy and convenient ice-making. Making ice is simple and fast. Just add water, plug into an outlet, and press the ON button. You can select one of the two ice cube sizes with the touch of a button. When first turning on the unit or during icemaking cycles, the compressor will stay idle for 3 minutes, while energizing.
There are warning indicators that alert you to fill the water when the reservoir is empty and to remove ice when the storage basket is full. The icemaker also has built-in safeguards that can limit accidental damage, automatically shutting down the system when necessary.
Please read carefully.
- The incline angle of the icemaker cabinet should not exceed 45˚ during transportation or use. Do not turn the icemaker upside down. Doing so could cause the compressor or refrigerating system to operate incorrectly. When the icemaker is moved or transported, please allow time for the fluids in the compressor to settle. Before using the icemaker for the first time, please wait 2 hours after the unit has been leveled and positioned in its proper place.
- Please ensure the icemaker is level and on a stable table or platform to avoid malfunction.
- The machine must be placed on a dry and level surface with sufficient ventilation, far from heat sources such as ovens, heaters, and corrosive gases. Leave an 8-inch clearance on all sides of the icemaker for proper ventilation.
- Do not fill the water reservoir with hot water. This may damage the icemaker. It is best to fill the water reservoir with water at room temperature or lower.
USE YOUR ICE MAKER
- Remove the cover of the water reservoir and pour potable water into the water reservoir. And be sure to keep the water level below the max. level with the FULL mark displayed in the following picture. Then move back the cover at once to avoid foreign matter entering.
Warning: Do not pour the water into the internal water tank located underneath the ice basket. This tank is not big enough and will affect the ice-making performance.
- Plug on the main power supply plug. Then press the “ON/OFF” button on the control panel to begin the ice-making cycle.
Note: After you plug on but do not turn on the unit through the “ON/OFF” button, the green power indicator will always be on for 2 seconds, then flash for 3 seconds. But after you turn on the unit by pressing the “ON/OFF” button, the green power indicator will keep on lighting. - The ice-making cycle lasts about 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the ambient temperature. And for the first time, according to the initial water temperature, ice-making last time will be a little longer. In extremely hot room temperatures, ice-making time may vary a lot, but it will not exceed 50 minutes.
- While the ice-maker is on, verify the water level of the internal tank located underneath the ice basket periodically. If there is not enough water to last the ice-making cycle, the unit wilL automatically let the water flow from the big water reservoir downward to the internal tank to continue the ice-making process. If both the internal water tank and the big water reservoir do have not enough water,, the ice maker will stop automatically, and the “Add Water” indicator will be on.
Note: Check to be sure that both of the water filters located at the bottom of the big water reservoir and internal water tank are not blocked by dirty substances or some foreign matter. Second to fill the water up to a big water reservoir to the max. water level mark. After shipping or moving the unit, better to allow the refrigerant liquid inside the compressor at least 3 minutes to settle before restarting. - The ice maker automatically stops working when the ice basket is full and the “Full Ice” indicator will be on.
- Change water in the water reservoir every 24 hours to ensure a reasonable hygiene level. If a unit isn’t in use for a long time, drain all water left in the water tank and water reservoir.
CLEANING AND MAINTAINING YOUR ICE MAKER
Before using your ice maker, it is strongly recommended to clean it thoroughly.
- Take out the ice basket.
- Clean the interior with diluted detergent, warm water, and a soft cloth.
- Then use the water to rinse the inside parts, and drain out the water from the draining port by unplugging the drain cap on the back.
- The outside of the ice maker should be cleaned regularly with a mild detergent solution and warm water.
- Dry the interior and exterior with a soft cloth.
- When the machine is not in use for a long time, open the water drain cap to drain water completely out from the water reservoir.
After using your ice maker for a long time, we also suggest you should clean your unit. Especially for the water separator pipe and the water filters, you must clean them periodically.
- If the water separator pipe is blocked and there is no water flowing down when you hear the compressor and the water pump inside are still working, please turn off the unit first disassemble this pipe, and clean it. Clean each hole on the pipe wall displayed in the following picture. After cleaning, install back the water separator pipe and be sure the right terminal of the pipe connects to the silicone pipe well and as original.
- For both the water tank and the big water reservoir, clean them with diluted detergent, warm water, and a soft cloth. Then use the water to rinse the inside, and drain out the water from the draining port by unplugging the drain cap on the back. It will help you keep the unit and ice cube hygienically and also make the unit work normally.
- When cleaning, if find that the ice cube is left on the evaporator and can not be taken out easily, you can turn on the unit to let the unit enter the ice-making process, then press the “ON/OFF” button for more than 5 seconds to let the unit start ice harvest process to melt the ice cube. It will help you remove the hard ice cube.
How to drain out the water from the internal tank and big water reservoir completely
Because the water in the big water reservoir is stop to drain port by the water valve, if you want to drain away all the water, please plug on the unit but don’t start the unit, then remove the drain port cap at the back. Wait some minutes, all of the water will flow out.

Frigidaire EFIC452-SS 40 Lbs Clear Ice Maker-FAQs
How do I clean my Frigidaire ice maker using the clean button?
To activate the cleaning mode, remove all ice from the machine. Press and hold the clean button until the red lights begin to blink. Release the button when the machine starts pulling in water. Let it run through the cleaning cycle for about 30 minutes, then drain and rinse thoroughly.
Why is my Frigidaire ice maker taking too long to produce ice?
A slow ice-making process can result from incorrect temperature settings, improper food storage (too much or too little food inside the freezer), or a clogged water filter or supply line.
How much water does the Frigidaire ice maker hold?
The internal reservoir has a storage capacity of 2.1 quarts of water.
Should I leave my Frigidaire ice maker on all the time?
Yes, the machine is designed to stay on continuously. Turning it off requires emptying the ice bucket and restarting the ice-making process the next day.
How do I clean the ice maker’s interior?
Use a soft cloth with warm soapy water or a solution of two tablespoons of baking soda mixed with a gallon of warm water. Wipe all interior surfaces, rinse with a damp cloth, and dry thoroughly before reassembling.
Why is my Frigidaire ice maker making loud noises?
Loud noises often indicate an issue with the water supply line. Ensure the line is properly connected and free from kinks or obstructions. If necessary, adjust or replace the water supply connection.
How can I make my ice maker work faster?
Lower the freezer temperature by 3-5 degrees. A colder environment helps the water freeze faster, allowing the ice-making cycle to complete more quickly.
How do I defrost my Frigidaire ice maker?
If ice buildup occurs, check if your unit has a forced defrost option. If not, unplug the appliance for an hour or two to let the ice melt naturally. Use a cooler to store perishable items during this process.
Does the Frigidaire ice maker recycle melted ice water?
Yes, since this ice maker does not have a built-in freezer, any melted ice water is collected and reused to create new ice.
