Press HOLD to permanently adjust the temperature. This will override the temperature settings for all time periods. The “Hold” feature turns off the program schedule and allows you to adjust the thermostat manually, as needed. Whatever temperature you set will be maintained 24 hours a day, until you manually change it, or press RUN to cancel “Hold” and resume the program schedule.

Built-in compressor protection

Honeywell Pro 2000 Series Programmable Thermostat 14This feature helps prevent damage to the compressor in your air conditioning or heat pump system.
Damage can occur if the compressor is restarted too soon after shutdown. This feature forces the compressor to wait 5 minutes before restarting. During the wait time, the display will flash the message Cool On (or Heat On if you have a heat pump). When the safe wait time has elapsed, the message stops flashing and the compressor turns on.

Early Start

Honeywell Pro 2000 Series Programmable Thermostat 15

Early Start: This feature allows the heating or cooling to turn on before the program start time, so the temperature is reached at the time you set. For example: Set the Wake time to 6 am, and the temperature to 70°. The heat will come on before 6 am, so the temperature is 70° by the time you wake at 6. The next time period is displayed when the system is activated before a scheduled time period.

  • Cool: 50° to 99°F (10° to 37°C).

“Cool On” or “Heat On” is flashing

  • The compressor protection feature is engaged. Wait 5 minutes for the system to restart safely, without damage to the compressor (see page 14).

“Heat On” is not displayed

  • Set the System switch to Heat, and set the temperature level above the current room temperature (see page 7).

Honeywell Pro 2000 Series Programmable Thermostat-FAQs

What does the Honeywell thermostat control?

The thermostat regulates both heating and hot water, ensuring energy efficiency and independent control over your home’s climate.

Why is “Heat On” flashing on my Honeywell thermostat?

A flashing “Heat On,” “Cool On,” “Snowflake,” or “Flame” icon means the thermostat has activated a built-in 5-minute delay to protect your HVAC system. Wait a few minutes for it to resume normal operation.

What are thermostat controls?

Thermostat controls regulate temperature in a heating system. You set a preferred temperature, and the thermostat maintains it by turning heating or cooling on or off as needed.

How does the Honeywell thermostat detect temperature?

It measures ambient air temperature and also accounts for the radiant temperature of objects in the room, like walls and furniture, for a more accurate reading.

What does “Run” mean on a thermostat?

The “Run” button restores your system to its programmed schedule. For example, if you manually adjust the temperature temporarily, pressing “Run” will return it to its pre-set settings.

What is the main function of a thermostat?

A thermostat’s primary function is to control your heating and cooling system, keeping your indoor environment at the temperature you set.

How does a thermostat work?

Thermostats use sensors like a bimetallic strip or thermistor to detect temperature changes. These sensors expand or contract, triggering the thermostat to turn heating or cooling on or off accordingly.

What is the ideal thermostat setting?

For energy efficiency:
1. Summer cooling: Set to 78°F
2. Winter heating: Set to 68°F

What is “EM Heat” on a thermostat?

“EM Heat” (Emergency Heat) is a backup heating system used when the primary heat source fails. It should only be activated if necessary, as it consumes more energy.
