Jacuzzi J-315 Comfort Hot Tub with Lounger
Important Safety Instructions
READ AND FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE OPERATING THE SPA!
- Do not permit children to use this product unless they are closely supervised at all times.
- Use the straps and clip tie-downs to secure the cover when not in use.
- The suction fittings are sized to match the water flow created by the pump. If they are replaced, make sure that the flow rate is the same.
- Never operate the spa if the suction fittings are broken or missing.
- Never replace a suction fitting with one rated less than the flow rate marked on the original suction fitting.
- When the spa is in use, do not use any electrical appliance, unless such appliances are built-in by the manufacturer.
- The water in a spa should never exceed 40 °C. Lower water temperatures are recommended for young children, pregnant women, and when spa use exceeds 10 minutes.
- The use of alcohol, narcotics, or medicines may cause drowsiness, and affect pulse rate, blood pressure, and circulation. Avoid using these substances before getting into the spa.
- Do not use a spa immediately following strenuous exercise.
Start-up instructions
Read each step in its entirety before proceeding with that step.
- Remove any dit from the spa. Although the spa shell has been polished at the factory, you may want to treat it with a specially formulated spa cleaner and wax available from your dealer prior to filing the first time.
- Filling the spa: Remove the filter cover, then remove both filter cartridges as outlined in the section “Cleaning The Filters”.
Position the end of the hose inside the filter connection and fill the spa until the level of water covers all of the nozzles, without however reaching the headrest. Do not overfill your spa.
N.B.: If your water is extremely hard, it is preferable to fill halfway with hard water and the rest of the way with softened water. Or, you may fill it with hard water if you use a special water additive. Always refill the spa through both filter fittings to purge trapped air from pump intakes. Failure to do so may cause air to be rapped in either pump 1 or the circulation pump’s intake, preventing the pumps from circulating water. After filling, make sure both filters are installed properly before [applying power to the spa. (refer to sec.) “Cleaning the filters”).

Operating instructions
The spa control system has automatic functions that operate upon start-up and normal operation.
Upon power up, the display shows the following information:
- current software version (e.g. 3.56);
- 888″ (all LED indicators are on: control of operation of all display segments and indicator lights).
- After the initial start-up sequence ends, the actual water temperature is displayed. If the water temperature is below 38° C (factory setting) and the spa is set in skimming/heating mode, the heater will come on. The heater goes off when the water temperature has reached 38° C.
N.B.: it is normal for the heater to turn on after the spa is first filled because tap water is often very cold.
Setting water temperature
The spa’s thermostat provides optimum control of water temperature. The temperature set point (set temperature) can be adjusted from 18 °C to 40 °C. To increase the set temperature, press the button (+). To lower it, press ( =).
N.B.: The first press of either WARMER ( + ) or COOLER ( -) button displays the set temperature.
Pump activation
The JETS 1 button activates the two-speed pump for the main jets. The first time you press it, low-speed pump 1 is activated; the second press activates high-speed and the third press shuts off the pump. The JETS 2 button controls jets pump 2 which only operates in high speed. The jets operate for 20 minutes after activation; then they switch off automatically to conserve energy. Simply press either jets button to continue operation for an additional 20 minutes.
Selecting the desired massage action
Each model incorporates a massage selector that allows you to customize the massage and performance by diverting water between various jet systems. Simply turn the massage selector to position A (Combo), B o C, to divert water pressure to various jet groups.
N.B.: The valve is designed to operate in positions A (Combo), B, and C for optimum performance. For optimum filtration benefits, leave the valve in position A when the spa is covered. Select position B or C for maximum jet performance during spa use.
Filter cycles
The spa is equipped with a circulation pump that constantly filters the water. Thanks to the action of this pump and of one of the two filter cartridges, even the smallest impurities are removed from the water.
N.B.: the circulation pump is also used to circulate heated water to the spa when the heater is turned on. This feature cannot be altered or disabled.
- The control system activates a programmable “standard” or “economy” skimming/heating cycle. These cycles utilize pump 1 and the larger filter cartridge end to quickly clean the water and minimize their “bath-tub ring” effect.
Standard skimming/heating modes
(the display shows the codes FO to F3)
This mode is normally selected in areas with cold climates where heating times are longer due to a lower ambient temperature. In these modes, the water temperature is regulated by the set temperature, circulation pump, and heater which turns on as needed. When the programmed temperature is reached, the heater shuts off and the circulation pump continues running to filter and clean the water (unless in summer mode; see related chapter).
Economy skimming/heating modes
(the display shows the codes F4 to F6)
This mode is normally selected in areas with cold climates where heating times are longer due to a higher ambient temperature. In this mode, the water temperature is regulated by the set temperature, circulation pump, and heater only while a programmed skimming cycle is running (unless in summer mode; see the relative chapter on this).
Lock Modes (L1 – L2)
These modes are designed for use during spa service or to prevent unauthorized use.
Economy skimming/heating modes
- On the control panel, simultaneously hold down both buttons (+) and ( -) and release. Press either button (+) or ( -) to select the skimming/heating mode from FO to F6 or lock modes L1-L2 described below:
- Standard skimming/heating modes
- F0: 5 minutes of skimming per day (one 5-minute “Blow-Out” cycle every 24 hours to purge all plumbing lines)
- F1: 1 hour of skimming per day (one 30-minute cycle every 12 hours); this is the factory de- fault setting.
- F2: 1.5 hours of skimming per day (one 30-minute cycle every 8 hours)
- F3: 2 hours of skimming per day (one 30-minute cycle every 6 hours)
- Economy skimming/heating modes
- F4: 1 hour of skimming/heating per day (one 30-minute cycle every twelve hours)
- F5: 1.5 hours of skimming/heating per day (one 30-minute cycle every eight hours)
- F6: 2 hours of skimming/heating per day (one 30-minute cycle every six hours)
- Lock modes
- L1: Full lockout (disables all spa functions to permit filter cleaning)
- L2: Partial lockout (disables the buttons for jets and lights to prevent unauthorized use of the spa). In this mode, the skimming/heating mode continues to operate as programmed. The temperature display flashes when this function is enabled. Example: the “F3″ skimming/heater cycle was enabled prior to choosing lock mode. The spa continues to perform the “F3″ cycle until lock mode is canceled, allowing another cycle to be selected.
- To set the time of the first skimming/heating cycle connect the spa to the power supply two minutes before the desired time.
EXAMPLE: If you desire your first skimming/heater cycle to begin at 10:00 AM turn off the power to the spa and turn it back on again at 9:68 AM.
Spa maintenance
Proper and regular maintenance of your spa will help it retain its beauty and performance.
- Cleaning the filters: Your Jacuzzi® Premium spa is equipped with a skimmer and two high-performance filter cartridges located inside the skimmer. Fine debris is filtered by the circulation pump drawing water through the skimmer bag and circulation pump cartridge. Larger impurities are filtered by the 2-speed pump drawing water through the skimmer bag and main pump cartridge during normal operation and at each skimming/heating cycle. To ensure optimum performance, clean both cartridges once a month.
Dispenser for water sanitation
At authorized Jacuzzi dealers, you can purchase a dispenser where you can place products for water sanitation). This dispenser must be placed in the filtering cartridge (recognizable by the grille cover on the compartment) connected to the circulation pump. The dispenser must always be removed (while wearing latex gloves) along with its cover during the cleaning of the filter and is to be reinstalled when this operation is complete.
ALWAYS TURN POWER TO THE SPA BEFORE CLEANING THE FILTER CARTRIDGES!
Refer to the filter cleaning/replacement procedure below:
- A. Turn off the power to the spa.
- B. Lift upward on filter cover handles to unsnap and remove them from the retainer clips.
- C. Remove the skimmer bag from the clips, clean it out, then reinstall it in the filter cover.
- D. Rotate each filter cartridge handle counterclockwise to remove them from their housing.
- E. Remove both filter cartridges from the skimmer well.
- F. If present, first remove the dispenser for water sanitation, as indicated above. Rinse impurities from the folds in the filters in each cartridge with pressurized water. Start at the top and work downward to the handle. Repeat until all folds are clean.
- G. Submerge both filter cartridges in the spa. Tilt threaded end upward to remove trapped air bubbles from each cartridge, then keep both cartridges submerged.
- H. Place each cartridge back into the skimmer well, then rotate each cartridge handle clockwise to thread it back into the fitting. Note the direction of installation. Do not over-tighten.
- I. Install clean skimmer bag back onto clips as shown.
- J. Install filter cover with skimmer bag by sliding it down into position over the spa retainer clips.
- L. Turn the power to the spa back on.
- Periodically, both filter cartridges will need a more thorough cleaning.
- We suggest cleaning as shown (Point F). Soak the filter overnight in a plastic container filled with a solution of water and a specific cleaning product.
- The cartridges last approximately two years with proper care, rotation, and water quality maintenance. Replacement cartridges may be purchased from your Jacuzzi Premium dealer.
Error conditions Error messages
Summer mode
When the actual sPa water temperature reaches up to 1 °C above the set temperature, the spa goes into “summer mode.” The circulation pump will turn off automatically to avoid adding additional heat to the water, eventually creating an overheating condition. (This setting cannot be programmed by the user).
N.B.: The summer mode does not take effect until the spa water temperature reaches 35 °C. This condition is more likely in excessively hot weather. Keep in mind that the spa’s ability to cool is directly affected by the ambient temperature: an excessively hot ambient temperature may prevent the spa from cooling down because its fully insulated construction is designed to retain heat and to minimize operating costs.
Overheating
Overheat protection. Heater is deactivated.
Do not get into the spa, the water may be too hot.
- To correct the situation:
- Remove the spa’s cover and allow your spa to cool down.
- Program the filter settings for “Economy” mode. Increase the temperature setting so as to exit “Summer Mode”.
- When the water temperature drops below 41°C, the spa will resume normal operation.
- If the water does not drop below 41°C, contact your authorized dealer.
The panel shows SN1
Open sensor (heater is deactivated) or shorted sensor (spa is deactivated). The upper-limit temperature sensor is not functioning.
- Contact an authorized service center.
The panel displays FL1 or FL2
If the message “FL1″ is flashing on the display, it means that the pressure switch is not working properly, or that the filter is very dirty, or that there is an airlock in the circulation pump. A flashing “FL2” display means the flow switch is malfunctioning closed. This error will cause the heater to deactivate. The main pump 1 may also deactivate.
- To correct the situation:
- Check that the water level is about 3 cm from the lowest headrest. Add water if necessary.
Troubleshooting
If the spa is not working the way it should, please first review all the installation and operating instructions in this manual and check the message on the panel display. If you are still not satisfied it is working properly, please follow the troubleshooting instructions provided.
None of the components are working (pump, light) Is there power to the spa?
Is the household circuit breaker tripped?
- Call your authorized dealer.
The pump does not operate but the light does
- Press the JETS key:
- If the water remains still, check the level and make sure the spa is plugged in. If it does not solve the problem, contact your authorized dealer.
The main pump operates but no water flows from the jets. Pump may not be properly primed. This can happen after the spa is drained and refilled.
- Press the JETS 1 button several times, never leaving the motor on for more than 5 to 10 seconds at a time.
- Disconnect the power supply and remove the filter (and the dispenser, if present; see “Dispenser for water sanitation”). Make sure that first, you have reinstalled the filter before connecting the spa to the power supply and restarting the pump.
Poor jet action.
- Press the JETS 1 button to make certain the pump 1 is on.
