Understanding the Daily Dosage Rings
Your Smart Pill Dispenser comes with 9 different rings, corresponding to the number of times per day that medication needs to be dispensed. The rings are designed and recommended to help you in laying out medication in the internal pill container, so it is properly dispensed. The internal pill compartment has 28 slots for medication.
To use the Daily Dosage Rings, choose the dosage ring that correctly indicates how many times per day you need medication dispensed. Then, place the dosage ring in the center of the internal pill container with the tab in the starting compartment (indicated by the blocked space in the compartment) before you start filling the dispenser with medication.
Once the dosage ring is properly situated, the alternating colors help you to distinguish between days. For example, if you are using the 2x Per Day ring (meaning medication only needs to be dispensed at two different times each day), this will accommodate 14 days’ worth of medication.
The blue numbers to the right of the tab are the first day’s medications. The white spaces are the following day’s medications. The colors alternate so that days do not get confused. The space marked “1” is where you would put the first dose for that day, the space marked “2” is where you would put all medications to be dispensed at the second time, and so on. The pill compartments should accommodate all necessary medications for that time in a single slot.
DO NOT PUT MEDICATION IN THE SLOTS INDICATED BY THE RED SPACES. THE RED SPACES ON THE DOSAGE RINGS INDICATE THAT THOSE CORRESPONDING COMPARTMENTS ON THE TRAY WILL NOT BE USED FOR THE SELECTED DAY CYCLE.
These spaces indicate unused compartments. For example, if you need medication dispensed at 5 different times during the day, the ring can accommodate 5 days or 25 medication times. 3 slots are left over. These leftover slots are indicated by the red space, and this is why there are substantially larger red areas on the 5x per day and 6x per day rings than on the 2x per day ring. Do not put medication in those slots.
Ring # | # of Meds per Day | Programmable Time Period | # of Compartments Used |
1 | 1x per day | 28 days | 28 |
2 | 2x per day | 14 days | 28 |
3 | 3x per day | 9 days | 27 |
4 | 4x per day | 7 days | 28 |
5 | 5x per day | 5 days | 25 |
6 | 6x per day | 4 days | 24 |
7 | 7x per day | 4 days | 28 |
8 | 8x per day | 3 days | 24 |
9 | 9x per day | 3 days | 27 |

Once the medication has been taken, the next dose window will go back to blue and show the next dose set on your schedule. To take medication ahead of the set time, tap “Take in advance”. A popup window will appear to confirm your choice. Tap “Okay”. Just like during the scheduled time, the next dose window will turn red, and the alarm will sound. You are then free to take your medication like normal.
NOTE: The “Take in advance” button will not work if you are trying to take your medication a day in advance.
Activity Overview
The activity screen shows users when medication was taken. Activities listed will show when medication was taken on time, when medication was taken late, and if medication was missed completely. Medication taken on time will be indicated with a green symbol. Medication taken late is indicated with yellow. And medication missed will be red. You can tap the note icon next to a time to review the note made for that distinct dose.
If medication is taken within the set alarm duration, then it is on time. If medication is taken after the alarm duration, but before the next alarm, then medication was taken late. If medication was never taken and the next alarm goes off, then the medication was missed. The alarm duration is set to 30 minutes by default but can be adjusted. (Please refer to the “Settings Overview” section to adjust alarm duration.)
NOTE: Records will start to be deleted after 14 days.
Alarms Overview
The alarms screen is where you can edit alarms that you made or set up a new medication schedule. Keep in mind that if a new medication schedule is set, the pill dispenser will automatically rotate and reset back to the starting position.
