IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

Read all instructions

  • The appliance is not to be used by children under 8 years old or persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or a lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
  • Children should not play with the machine, whether they are supervised or unsupervised.
  • Keep the packed machine in a dry place, not exposed to environmental elements, and in conditions in which the temperature does not fall below 5 °C.
  • Do not place heavy items on the packaging. Do not stack more than three items of the same kind.
  • Do not cover with cloths, etc.
  • Do not leave the packing elements (plastic bags, expanded polystyrene, nails, cardboard, etc.) within the reach of children, as these elements are potential sources of danger.
  • To disconnect, turn any control to «off », then remove the plug from the wall outlet.
  • Unplug from the outlet when not in use. Allow the machine to cool before adding or removing parts.
  • Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
  • Do not use the appliance for anything other than its intended use.
  • If liquids inside the machine freeze, leave the coffee machine in a place with a minimum temperature of 20 °C for at least 20 minutes before switching it on.
  • Never put any vessels filled with liquid on top of the machine.
  • Do not let the cord hang over the edge of the table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
  • Improper installation and use can cause damage to people, animals, and things for which the manufacturer cannot be considered responsible.
  • Do not use outdoors.
  • Leave enough free space around the machine to facilitate its use and the performance of any maintenance operations.
  • Install the machine on a flat, stable, dry, water-repellent surface (laminate, steel, ceramic, etc.) away from heat sources (oven, cooking stove, fireplace, etc.) and in conditions where the temperature does not fall below 5°C (41° F). KEEP WARM.
  • The machine must not be set up in areas where water tubes or high-pressure cleaners are in use! Do not immerse the machine!
  • Do not leave the machine exposed to environmental elements or place it in a damp room, such as a bathroom.
  • Do not remove the water tank lid during use.
  • The maximum inclination of the support surface must be below 5 ° to prevent overturning.
  • Switch off the machine and disconnect from the power supply before opening the machine or disengaging parts that move when in use.
  • Use only original spare parts in order to avoid compromising the safety and proper functioning of the machine.
  • The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may result in fire, electrical shock, or injury to persons.
  • In an emergency, such as fire, unusual noise, overheating, etc., take immediate action, disconnect the power, and contact customer service.
  • The heating element surface is subject to residual heat after use.
  • For the power supply, the data listed on the type plate must be carefully consulted! When in doubt, contact customer service.
  • It is inadvisable to use adapters, multiple sockets, and/or extensions. If their use is indispensable, only approved products may be used. Check that the current capacity limit indicated on the adapters exceeds the absorption capacity (A = ampere) of the equipment.
  • To protect against fire, electric shock, and injury to persons, do not immerse the cord or plugs in water or any other liquid.
  • Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions, or has been damaged in any manner. Return the appliance to the nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair, or adjustment.
  • To reduce the risk of injury, do not remove the filter holder during the brew process.
  • To reduce the risk of injury, do not drape cord over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over unintentionally.

Setting up the coffee machine

Improper installation can cause damage to people, animals, and things

Observe the notes on safety instructions!

  1. Put the machine on a level and stable surface. Leave enough free space around.
  2. Fill the water tank (ca. 2 litres). Use fresh water.
  3. Insert both hoses into the water reservoir. Close the lid.
  4. Open the tap.
  5. Switch on the coffee switch only.
  6. Connect to the main power.
  7. Switch on the main switch.
  8. Close the tap as soon as water comes out of the steam wand.
  9. Pour 0.5 l water out of the group. Place the receptacle under the outlet.
  10. Switch off the coffee switch.
  11. Empty the drip tray.

Switch ON / OFF

Switch ON

  1. Fill the water tank (ca. 2 litres). Use fresh water.
  2. Insert both hoses into the water reservoir. Close the lid.
  3. Switch on the main switch. The green light is on.

Switch OFF

  1. Remove the porta-filter, knock out the coffee. Do not damage the filter.
  2. Lock the porta-filter holder again.
  3. Switch off the main switch. The green light goes off.

Don’t switch on the machine before filling the water tank to avoid damaging the heating element!

For the first installation or after a long stop, refer to the chapter «Set up the coffee machine».

Use

NOTE:

  • Wait for the orange light «boiler heating» to switch off.
  • Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
  • Check the water level in the tank frequently. Refill if necessary!

Preparing coffee

  1. Use a filter basket for 1 or 2 coffees as required.
  2. Fill with ground coffee and tamp. Remove leftovers from the rim of the filter.
  3. Lock the porta-filter into the group head.
  4. Put cup(s) under the coffee outlet.
  5. Start brewing by pressing the coffee switch. Stop brewing by pressing the coffee switch.
  6. Remove the porta-filter, knock out the coffee, and lock it again. Do not damage the filter.

Preparing hot water (tea)

  1. Flush out residual steam condensation.
  2. Put the cup under the hot water spout.
  3. Switch on the hot water switch.
  4. Open the tap slowly.
  5. Close the tap when the desired amount is reached.
  6. Switch off the hot water switch.

NOTE:

  • For best results, store milk at ≤ 5 °C (≤ 41 °F).
  • Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
  • Check the water level in the tank frequently. Refill if necessary!

Steam wand

  1. Switch on the steam switch.
  2. Flush out residual steam condensation.
  3. Wait for steam to be generated. Wait for the orange light «boiler heating» to switch off.
  4. Submerge the steam wand in the milk.
  5. Open the tap slowly.
  6. Close the tap when the desired temperature is reached.
  7. Remove the product when finished.
  8. Switch off the steam switch.
  9. Purge steam to clean the steam wand.
  10. Clean the steam wand.
  11. Switch on the hot water switch, and open the tap slowly.
  12. Close the tap as soon as water comes out of the hot water spout, and switch off the hot water switch.

Daily cleaning

Do not use abrasive sponges and detergents, or solvents! If a cleaner is required, follow the instructions on the package!

Do not immerse the machine in water!

  1. Flush brewing group.
  2. Brush the seal under the group head. Do not brush the shower!
  3. Insert a blind filter disk and cleaning detergent for espresso coffee machines.
  4. Lock the porta-filter into the group head. Remove cup-holder grid.
  5. Turn on the coffee switch for 5 sec., then let it rest for 10 seconds.
  6. Remove the porta-filter with the blind filter disk, rinse both under fresh water.
  7. Insert the blind filter disk and lock the porta-filter again.
  8. Rinse several times.
  9. Empty drip tray.
  10. Unlock the filter basket, and clean all parts. Rinse with hot water to dissolve any coffee oil residue.
  11. Insert the filter basket into the porta-filter and insert it into the group head. Reattach the cup-holder grid.
  12. Clean housing with a damp cloth. Follow the grain of the satin finish on stainless steel parts.

Daily cleaning of the steam wand

Do not use abrasive sponges and detergents, or solvents! If a cleaner is required, follow the instructions on the package!

Do not use aluminum containers!

  1. Submerge the steam wand in the milk cleaning solution. Heat up with the steam wand and allow it to react. Time depends on the detergent; we suggest at least 10 minutes.
  2. Empty the cleaning solution and fill the container with fresh water.
  3. Submerge the steam wand in water and heat it up.
  4. Clean the steam wand.

Storing the machine

Final Stop: Dispose of the machine properly, in accordance with local requirements.

  1. Empty the water tank.
  2. Empty the remaining water. Stop immediately when out of water.
  3. Switch off the main switch.
  4. Clean the machine. See page «Daily cleaning».
  5. Unplug the machine.
  6. Cover the machine and place it in a dry room, not exposed to environmental elements.

Adjusting pump pressure

This operation should only be conducted by a qualified technician.

To adjust the water pump pressure or to reset the safety thermostat, unplug the machine and wait until it has completely cooled down.

  1. Remove the screws on top. Remove the cup tray.
  2. Loosen the lock nut.
  3. Adjust the pressure. Screw in / out by maximum 1 turn.
  4. Tighten the lock nut.
  5. Place and lock the cup tray.

Resetting the safety thermostat

  1. Remove the screws on top. Remove the cup tray.
  2. Push in the red button.
  3. Place and lock the cup tray.
  4. Plug in and switch on the machine. Please refer to the chapter «Set up the machine».
  5. Verify that the machine functions correctly.
  6. When in doubt, contact customer service.

What if…

The machine does not start

  • Is the main switch switched on?
  • Are the fuse, the plug, and the cable intact?

…no coffee, hot water, steam delivery

Is the water tank empty?

…machine not heating up

The safety thermostat needs to be reset. See instructions.

…irregular steam delivery

Is the tip of the steam wand obstructed?

… coffee comes out too slow / too fast

  • Are the filter and the group head intact?
  • Is the coffee ground too fine / too coarse?

Finer coffee: coffee brews more slowly

Is the drip tray filled up?
