Preparing the Reservoir

Waterpik Sensonic Water Flosser-Electric Toothbrush 12

Remove the reservoir, lift the reservoir lid, and fill with lukewarm water. Replace the reservoir over the base, press down firmly, and close the lid.

Inserting and Removing Tips

Waterpik Sensonic Water Flosser-Electric Toothbrush 13

Insert the tip into the center of the Water Flosser handle, pressing down firmly until the tip clicks into place. The colored ring will be flush with the top of the handle if the tip is correctly locked into place. To remove the tip from the handle, slide the tip eject button on the handle.

Caution: Do not use the tip eject slide while the unit is running.

Prime Unit (First Time Use Only)

Waterpik Sensonic Water Flosser-Electric Toothbrush 14

Set the pressure control dial on the base to high (pressure setting No. 10), point the handle and tip into the sink. Turn the unit ON and water ON until water flows from the tip. Turn Power OFF.

Adjusting the Pressure Setting

Waterpik Sensonic Water Flosser-Electric Toothbrush 15

Turn the pressure control dial on the base of the unit to the lowest setting (pressure setting No. 1) for first-time use. Gradually increase pressure over time to the setting you prefer — or as instructed by your dental professional.

Using the Water Flosser

Waterpik Sensonic Water Flosser-Electric Toothbrush 16

Always place the tip in your mouth before turning the water ON. With the water switch in the OFF position, turn the power on. Lean over the sink and slightly close your lips enough to prevent splashing while still allowing water to flow from your mouth into the sink. Turn the water switch ON. When finished, turn the water switch and power OFF. During use, you can stop the flow of water by sliding the water switch on the handle to the OFF position.

NOTE: Motor will continue to run.

Recommended Technique

Waterpik Sensonic Water Flosser-Electric Toothbrush 17

For best results, start with the back teeth and work toward the front teeth. Glide the tip along the gumline and pause briefly between teeth. Continue until you have cleaned the inside and outside of both the upper and lower teeth.

When Finished

Turn the unit OFF. Empty any liquid left in the reservoir. Unplug the unit.

Note: If you used mouthwash or other solutions besides water, see the “Using Mouthwash and Other Solutions” section.

NOTE: NOT ALL TIPS ARE INCLUDED WITH ALL MODELS.

TIP USAGE

Plaque Seeker™ Tip

Waterpik Sensonic Water Flosser-Electric Toothbrush 18

To use the Plaque Seeker™ tip, place the tip close to the teeth so that the bristles are gently touching the teeth. Gently glide tip along the gumline, pausing briefly between teeth to gently brush and allow the water to flow between the teeth.

Orthodontic Tip

Waterpik Sensonic Water Flosser-Electric Toothbrush 19

To use the orthodontic tip, gently glide the tip along the gumline, pausing briefly to lightly brush the area between teeth and all around the orthodontic bracket, before proceeding to the next tooth.

Pik Pocket™ Tip

Waterpik Sensonic Water Flosser-Electric Toothbrush 20

The Pik Pocket™ tip is specifically designed to deliver water or anti-bacterial solutions deep into periodontal pockets. To use the Pik Pocket™ tip, set the unit to the lowest pressure setting. Place the soft tip against a tooth at a 45-degree angle and gently place the tip under the gumline, into the pocket.

Tongue Cleaner Tip

Waterpik Sensonic Water Flosser-Electric Toothbrush 21

Set to the lowest pressure setting, place tip in the center/middle of your tongue about halfway back. Pull forward with light pressure. Increase pressure as you prefer.

CLEANING AND TROUBLESHOOTING YOUR WATERPIK™ WATER FLOSSER

Using Mouthwash and Other Solutions

Waterpik Sensonic Water Flosser-Electric Toothbrush 22

Your Waterpik™ Water Flosser can be used to deliver mouthwash and antibacterial solutions. After using any special solution, rinse the unit to prevent clogging by partially filling the reservoir with warm water and running the unit with the tip pointed into the sink until the unit is empty. Never immerse in water or any other liquid.

Cleaning

Never immerse the unit in water. Before cleaning, unplug from the electrical outlet. Clean the product when necessary by using a soft cloth and mild non-abrasive cleanser to wipe the exterior. It is recommended that the reservoir is removed and cleaned weekly. The water reservoir is removable for easy cleaning and is top rack dishwasher safe, with heat cycle off. Using toothpastes containing peroxide may damage the plastic housing of this product. Using abrasive or chemical cleaners may damage the plastic housing of this product.

Removing Hard Water Deposits/General Cleaning

Hard water deposits may build up in your unit, depending on the mineral content of your water. If left unattended, it can hinder performance. Cleaning internal parts: Add 2 tablespoons of white vinegar to a full reservoir of warm water. Point the handle and tip into the sink. Run the unit until the reservoir is empty. Rinse by repeating with a full reservoir of clean warm water. This process should be done every 1 to 3 months to ensure optimal performance. If using mouthwash or other solutions, more frequent cleaning is recommended.

Leakage

If leaking due to a damaged hose, replacement hoses and handles can be purchased at www.waterpik.com (US) or www.waterpik.ca (Canada) or contact Water Pik Inc. customer service for a self-service repair kit.

Waterpik Sensonic Water Flosser-Electric Toothbrush-FAQs

Which is better: a water flosser or an electric toothbrush?

Both serve different purposes, so one isn’t better than the other. A water flosser cleans between teeth and along the gumline, while an electric toothbrush removes plaque from tooth surfaces. For best oral hygiene, dentists recommend using both together.

Can I use a Waterpik with Invisalign aligners?

Yes, you can safely use a water flosser with Invisalign. Since there are no wires or brackets, cleaning is easier. A water flosser helps remove trapped food particles and bacteria more effectively than traditional flossing.

Is it safe to use this device if I have a pacemaker?

Generally, it meets safety standards for electronic devices. However, if you have a pacemaker or any implanted medical device, it’s best to consult your doctor before using it to avoid any potential interference.

Is a water flosser good for dental implants?

Yes, a water flosser is highly recommended for implants. It helps clean hard-to-reach areas and reduces plaque buildup. Using a specialized tip can further improve cleaning around implants and crowns.

Why do some dentists not fully recommend water flossers?

Water flossers may not remove all plaque stuck on tooth surfaces. Some dentists suggest combining them with traditional floss for deeper cleaning. Still, they are considered safe and effective for daily use.

What type of toothbrush is best for sensitive teeth or implants?

A soft-bristle electric toothbrush is usually the best choice. It cleans gently without damaging gums or dental work, making it ideal for people with sensitivity or implants.

Who should avoid using an electric toothbrush?

Most people can use electric toothbrushes safely. However, individuals with extremely sensitive gums, certain dental conditions, or young children may find manual brushing more comfortable.

Is a water flosser effective for gum disease?

Yes, it can help improve gum health by reducing bacteria and plaque below the gumline. Regular use may also help reduce bleeding and inflammation associated with gum disease.

What are the disadvantages of a water flosser?

A water flosser can be more expensive than traditional floss and may take time to get used to. It can also be slightly messy during use, and it may not completely remove stubborn plaque on its own.

Can using a water flosser damage your gums?

When used correctly and at appropriate pressure settings, it is safe. However, using very high pressure or improper technique may cause discomfort. Always start with a lower setting and adjust gradually.
