BEFORE USING FOR THE FIRST TIME
Wash the popper cover and measuring/butter cup with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Wipe the exterior of the popper base and popcorn chute with a soft, damp cloth and dry. It is not necessary to clean inside the popcorn chamber.
Note: DO NOT immerse the popper base in water or any other liquid. Once removed, the measuring/butter cup and cover can only be washed in a dishwasher or top rack. DO NOT put the popper base into the dishwasher. This will permanently damage the product and will void the warranty.
USE YOUR AIR CRAZY™ HOT AIR POPCORN POPPER
This popper uses hot air to pop the corn. DO NOT place anything other than popcorn kernels into the popping chamber.
- Remove the cover and measuring/butter cup. Ensure that the vents are clear of popcorn pieces before each use. Use the measuring/butter cup, or a standard measuring cup, to measure a level ½ cup of popcorn kernels. DO NOT attempt to pop more than 2/3 a cup of popcorn kernels simultaneously.
- Pour popcorn kernels into the popping chamber. DO NOT put oil, butter, shortening, salt, or anything other than popcorn into the chamber. Place the cover in position, then place the measuring/butter cup into the cover.
- If buttered popcorn is desired, place 2-3 tablespoons of room temperature butter, cut into 4 equally sized parts, into the measuring/butter cup. Note: Do not use refrigerated butter as it will not melt completely in the short popping cycle. DO NOT remove the measuring/butter cup during the popping cycle. If unbuttered popcorn is desired, placing the measuring/butt cup into the cover is still necessary. Never run the Air Crazy™ popcorn popper without the cover and measuring/butter cup in place.
- Place a 4 quart, or larger, heat-resistant bowl below the popcorn chute to collect popcorn as it pops. ½ cup of popcorn kernels will yield between 3 and 4 quarts of popped popcorn.
- Plug the cord into a 120-volt, AC outlet ONLY. With the cover and measuring/butter cup in place, press the “ON/OFF” switch to the on position, toward the “ l ” symbol.
- Popcorn will begin to pop, and the cycle will be done within 3 – 4 minutes. After popcorn has completed popping, turn the “ON/OFF” switch to the off position, the “ O “ symbol. The popcorn cycle is completed when there is a gap of 5 seconds between kernels popping. Unplug the popper from the outlet. Let the popper sit, with the lid and measuring/butter cup in place, for at least one minute after completion of the popping cycle. Unpopped kernels may still pop unexpectedly. Use caution when handling the Air Crazy™ popcorn popper, it will be hot after the popping cycle. Always use hot pads or oven mitts to handle the hot appliance.
- If the butter was melted in the measuring/butter cup, pour over the top of the Popcorn and sprinkle with salt or other popcorn seasonings as desired.
- If you wish to pop more batches of popcorn immediately, remove any unpopped kernels and loose popcorn from the popper by inverting the popper. Use oven mitts or hot pads when handling the hot popper. If the butter was melted in the buttercup, clean and dry the measuring/butter cup and replace it on the cover. Repeat steps 1-7 above.
- A small amount of smoke and/or odor may occur upon heating due to the release of manufacturing oils – this is normal.
- Some minor expansion/contraction sounds may occur during heating and cooling – this is normal.
HELPFUL HINTS
- Always use fresh popcorn. Dried-out, stale, or old popcorn pops poorly as it has lost its moisture content and may scorch.
- This popcorn popper can accommodate both regular and premium popcorn. Premium and gourmet popcorn do not yield results as good as regular popcorn. If premium or gourmet popcorn is used, you may notice an increase in the number of unpopped kernels.
- This popper pops using hot air. It does not require any oils or fats to pop the corn, and they should never be used in the popper. DO NOT use microwave popcorn.
- If popcorn does not pop, it is usually the result of environmental factors such as the freshness and moisture content of the popcorn, or variances by popcorn type. Unpopped kernels do not necessarily indicate a defect in the appliance.
- To use the cord wrap, wind the cord around the post at the bottom of the appliance for easy, tangle-free storage.
CLEANING YOUR AIR CRAZY™ HOT AIR POPCORN POPPER
Your Air Crazy™ popcorn popper may be cleaned after every use. Note: Do not immerse the popper base in water or any other liquid. Do not use any abrasive cleansers or scrubbers on any part of the popper.
- Unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet. Allow the entire appliance to cool, with a measuring/butter cup in place, before cleaning.
- Remove the cover and measuring/butter cup from the popper base. Separate the cover and measuring/butter cup. Wash in warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly. The measuring/butter cup and cover may only be washed in a dishwasher or top rack.
- Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe the exterior of the popper and the popcorn chute. DO NOT wipe inside the popping chamber. Check during every cleaning that no pieces of popcorn are lodged into the vents; ensure that the vents are clear before each use.

West Bend 82416 Air Crazy Popcorn Popper-FAQs
How do I use the West Bend 82416 Air Crazy Popcorn Popper?
To use the West Bend Air Crazy Popcorn Popper, simply add the desired amount of popcorn kernels into the popping chamber, place the lid securely on the unit, and switch it on. The machine will circulate hot air to pop the kernels into fluffy popcorn within minutes.
How much oil do I need for popping popcorn with the West Bend Air Crazy Popcorn Popper?
For air popping, no oil is required. The West Bend Air Crazy Popcorn Popper uses hot air to pop the kernels, making it an oil-free option. However, you can lightly spray your popcorn with oil afterward for added flavor if desired.
How does an air popper work?
An air popper uses hot air circulation to heat and expand the moisture inside the kernels. As the pressure builds, the kernels burst open and pop, turning into fluffy popcorn without the need for oil.
Should I preheat my air popper before using it?
Yes, it is recommended to preheat your air popper before adding the kernels. This ensures the popcorn pops more evenly and reduces the number of unpopped kernels.
Why is my air-popped popcorn not crunchy?
If your air-popped popcorn isn’t crunchy, it may be because the kernels were too dry. To improve texture, try hydrating your kernels by adding a teaspoon of water per cup of kernels and storing them in an airtight container for a few hours before popping.
Can I burn popcorn in an air popper?
It is unlikely to burn popcorn in an air popper because the machine circulates hot air and expels the kernels as they pop. However, some kernels may burn if left in the popper for too long, so it’s important to turn off the machine once the popping slows down.
How much oil should I use in a West Bend Stir Crazy Popcorn Popper?
For the West Bend Stir Crazy Popcorn Popper, use about one tablespoon of vegetable oil per quarter cup of popcorn kernels. Canola oil is a popular choice, but other oils can also be used based on preference.
How many watts is the West Bend Air Crazy Popcorn Popper?
The West Bend Air Crazy Popcorn Popper operates at 850 watts, providing efficient heat for quick popcorn popping.
How much popcorn can I pop in the West Bend Air Crazy Popcorn Popper?
The West Bend Air Crazy Popcorn Popper is designed to pop a standard amount of kernels in a single batch, typically around 1/2 cup of kernels, yielding approximately 12 cups of popped popcorn.
