IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
General Power Tool Safety Warnings
Work Area Safety
- Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
- Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust. Power tools create sparks, which may ignite the dust or fumes.
- Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.
Personal Safety
- Stay alert, watch what you are doing, and use common sense when operating a Tool. Do not use a Tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication. A moment of inattention while operating Tools may result in serious personal injury.
- Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Safety equipment, such as a dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, a hard hat, or hearing protection, used for appropriate conditions, will reduce personal injuries.
- Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the Tool in unexpected situations.
- Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Keep your hair, clothing, and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewelry, or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
- Only use safety equipment that has been approved by an appropriate standards agency. Unapproved safety equipment may not provide adequate protection. Eye protection must be ANSI‑approved, and breathing protection must be NIOSH‑approved for the specific hazards in the work area.
Power Tool Use and Care
- Do not force the Tool. Use the correct Tool for your application. The correct Tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.
- Store Tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the Tool or these instructions to operate the Tool. Tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
- Maintain Tools. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts, and any other condition that may affect the Tool’s operation. If damaged, have the Tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained Tools.
- Keep Tools clean. Properly maintained Tools are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
- Use the Tool, accessories and Tool bits etc. in accordance with these instructions, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the Tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation.
- Stay alert. Watch what you are doing, and use common sense when operating the Staple Gun.
- Use clamps (not included) or other practical ways to secure and support the workpiece to a stable platform. Holding the work by hand or against your body is unstable and may lead to loss of control.
- Never aim the Staple Gun at any person, child, or animal.
- Use only accessories that are recommended by the manufacturer for your model. Accessories that may be suitable for one product may become hazardous when used on another product.
- When servicing a product, use only identical replacement parts. Follow instructions in the “Inspection, Maintenance, and Cleaning” section of this manual. Use of unauthorized parts or failure to follow maintenance instructions may create a risk of electric shock or injury.
- Maintain labels and nameplates on the Tool. These carry important safety information. If unreadable or missing, contact Harbor Freight Tools for a replacement.
- Do not leave the Tool unattended.
- This product is not a toy. Keep it out of reach of children.
- The warnings, precautions, and instructions discussed in this instruction manual cannot cover all possible conditions and situations that may occur. It must be understood by the operator that common sense and caution are factors that cannot be built into this product, but must be supplied by the operator.
Service
Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.

Functions
Operating Instructions
Read the ENTIRE IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION section at the beginning of this manual, including all text under subheadings therein, before setting up or use of this product.
Note: For additional information regarding the parts listed in the following pages, refer to the Assembly Diagram near the end of this manual.
- Push the End Clip forward and down to release the Staple Channel Latch. Pull out the Staple Channel. See Figure B.
- Load the staples or brad nails into the Staple Channel. Each of the fasteners is to be loaded into the Staple Channel with its sharp end facing the base of the Staple Channel. See Figure C.

- Staples are to be inserted into the center of the Staple Channel. Brad nails are to be inserted on either side of the Staple Channel, but not placed in the center of the Staple Channel. Note: To adjust the force that will be exerted on the fastener to drive it deeper into the workpiece, use the Depth Adjustment Knob.
- Turn the Depth Adjustment Knob clockwise to increase the force to drive the fastener, and counterclockwise for less force driving the fastener.
Workpiece and Work Area Set Up
- Designate a work area that is clean and well‑lit. The work area must not allow access by children or pets to prevent distraction and injury.
- Secure loose workpieces using a vise or clamps (not included) to prevent movement while working.
- There must not be objects, such as utility lines, nearby that will present a hazard while working.
General Operating Instructions
- Insert a full strip of fasteners into the Staple Channel. Push the Staple Channel back into the Staple Gun Body. Make certain that it is pushed all the way back into place before operating the Staple Gun.
- Determine whether or not the object being stapled will necessitate extra force from the Staple Gun. This will depend primarily on the thickness of the item being stapled. For instance, a large pad of paper will need more force than one or two sheets being stapled together.
- Set the Depth Adjustment Knob accordingly. Note: Test the Staple Gun using a scrap work piece. Make certain that you have the Depth Adjustment Knob set correctly.
- Place the item to be stapled below the Nose. Grasp the Staple Gun with your fingers inserted into the opening in the Housing and your palm resting on the Handle. Squeeze and pull down on the Handle to fire a fastener.
- To prevent accidents, clean, then store the tool indoors out of children’s reach.
Maintenance and Servicing
Procedures not specifically explained in this manual must be performed only by a qualified technician.
TO PREVENT SERIOUS INJURY FROM TOOL FAILURE:
Do not use damaged equipment. If abnormal noise or vibration occurs, have the problem corrected before further use.
Cleaning, Maintenance, and Lubrication
- BEFORE EACH USE, inspect the general condition of the tool. Check for:
- loose hardware,
- misalignment or binding of moving parts,
- cracked or broken parts, and
- any other condition that may affect its safe operation.
- AFTER USE, wipe external surfaces of the tool with a clean cloth. Do not use flammable, corrosive, or abrasive solvents.
Cleaning and Removing the Staple Channel
- Push the Retaining Clip at the front of the Staple Gun forward to release the Staple Channel. Pull the two tabs (located midpoint on the bottom of the Staple Gun) toward the back of the Staple Gun.
- The Staple Channel is now free of the Staple Gun and can be cleared of any jammed fasteners.

FastenPro 62992 Three-Way Tacker Staple Gun Kit-FAQs
What is the difference between a tacker and a staple gun?
A tacker drives staples using a striking motion, similar to swinging a hammer, while a staple gun uses a trigger mechanism to shoot staples with a squeeze. Tackers are ideal for quick, repetitive fastening jobs.
What is a tacker gun used for?
A tacker gun is used for insulation, roofing, carpeting, and upholstery work. It allows fast, secure stapling on materials like fabric, cardboard, and plastic sheets.
How do I load staples into the FastenPro 62992 staple gun?
Pull down the magazine latch at the back, slide out the staple tray, insert the correct staple strip (legs facing downward), and push the tray back until it clicks securely into place.
How do I know what size staples to use?
Choose a staple length roughly three times the thickness of the material you’re fastening. For example, use an 18 mm staple for 6 mm material thickness.
Can I use any brand of staples in the FastenPro 62992?
Yes, as long as the staples match the correct size and type recommended in your manual. Compatibility depends on size, not brand.
What types of staples does this 3- tacker support?
The FastenPro 62992 is designed for D-type, U-type, and T-type staples, making it suitable for diverse fastening tasks such as wiring, upholstery, and carpentry.
What does “T50” mean in staples?
“T50” indicates a standard heavy-duty staple size, often used for upholstery, crafts, and light construction. It’s one of the most common sizes for manual staple guns.
What are Type 13 staples?
Type 13 staples are medium-thickness staples typically used in tackers and staple guns for paper, fabric, and light woodwork.
Why is my staple gun not firing properly?
Common causes include jammed staples, incorrect loading, or using the wrong size staples. Remove the jammed staples, clean the channel, and reload correctly before resuming work.
What happens if I load staples incorrectly?
Improperly loaded staples can jam or bend, preventing the tool from firing. Always ensure the staple legs face downward and fit smoothly in the magazine slot.
