AIWA Exos X8 Portale Party Speaker
Getting Started
- We’re honored you’ve chosen to add the Exos-X8 to your speaker collection. The X8 is focused on bringing big sound to more places than ever before, and we think it’s unlike anything in its class. It combines two high-end drivers with a powerful amp and a big battery, with the sole aim of bringing you and yours together with the help of Big Aiwa Sound. We have a shorthand phrase for how we approach making great-sounding products – “Double the Hardware.” It means putting more care, effort, and money into the product (the “hardware”) – and less into packaging, excessive flashy marketing, and middlemen.
Start listening to music on your X8 right away:
- Unbox the speaker and plug it into the wall using the included AC power cable.
- The battery indicator will appear on the front panel. Make sure the battery has some charge before you disconnect it from AC power. We recommend charging the battery for at least 6 hours before first use if possible.
- The speaker should be powered on in Bluetooth mode (BT), and enter pairing mode. The speaker will appear as Aiwa Exos-X8 in your Bluetooth device list.
- Pair with the speaker using your phone, computer, or tablet.
- If you would like to use the Aux / Line input, connect a device to the 3.5mm jack on the back, and use the “FUNC” button on the speaker, or the “AUX” button on the remote, to select this input.
- Play some music! Adjust the volume using the Volume +/- buttons, and EQ using the EQ button.
Buttons, Parts, and Remote
- Power: Power off when the speaker is on
- LED: Activate or deactivate the LED illumination.
- 1-0, 10+: Use these keys to select an FM station or USB track directly by number.
- VOCAL: This button toggles a DSP function that attempts to remove the vocals from the audio currently playing so you can sing over it. Because all songs are recorded differently, the result will vary a great deal from song to song.
- Vol +/-: Adjust the overall volume level of the speaker using this button.
- Rep: Set the speaker to repeat all, single track, no repeat, or shuffle in USB playback mode.
- EQ: The Exos-X8 includes 5 EQ modes, which may suit your preferences or choice of music better.
- Play Back / Rec: Use REC to start and stop the recording function in USB mode, use Play Back to listen to your recording. You must have a USB drive connected to use this feature.
- Up / Down: Change the speed of USB playback
- Play / Pause: Pause or resume playback in Bluetooth or USB mode.
- Forward / Rev: Go to the next or previous track in Bluetooth or USB mode.
- Bluetooth / Pair: Hold this button to enable pairing while in Bluetooth mode.
- FM: Switch to FM radio playback.
- Aux: Switch to the LINE input
- USB: Switch to USB playback mode
Battery and charging
- The battery indicator will show the approximate battery level on the front LED panel. If the battery level shows an empty flashing battery, connect the speaker to AC power right away. When the battery indicator shows that it’s full and stops flashing, the battery is fully charged.
- NOTE: To avoid loss of battery life, make sure you always switch the unit off when you’re done using it. Always charge the battery to 100% at least once every 60 days. If the battery is allowed to remain at a low level for too long, it can lose capacity.
- To charge your devices like smartphones or tablets from the speaker, use the USB port marked “5V 1A”. This will charge your device using a 1A current over any standard USB cable. If your device is not rated for 1000mA current, please note that connecting it to this port may damage your device.
- If idle for 15 minutes, the X8 will power off automatically. To turn it on after this automatic shut-off, the power switch needs to be turned off and on twice.

Line In
- The Line-in function plays any input on the 3.5mm LINE input on the back of the speaker. You can use any device with a 3.5mm audio output, including a TV, stereo system, mixer, iPod, etc. Keep in mind that, as this is an analog input, it is possible to overload it and cause distortion if your source device is turned up too high. Likewise, if your source device is not set to a high enough volume, the output on the X8 will be too low. Take care to set your source device to an appropriate volume when using the Line-in function.
Bluetooth
- Bluetooth Pairing:
- The X8 will default to Bluetooth mode on power-on and enter pairing mode. Find the Exos-X8 in the connection/pairing dialogue on your phone or other device and connect. The speaker will announce the successful Bluetooth connection.
- To pair with a new device, hold the play/pause/Pair button until the speaker announces it’s disconnected. At this point, you can connect as described above.
- To pause a song on a supported device connected via Bluetooth, press the Play/Pause/Pair button. To advance to the next song, press the “FWD/TUN+” button. To go back to the previous song, press the “REW/TUN-” button.
- FM Radio
- The FM Radio function uses the external wire antenna to pick up FM radio stations in your area. To use the radio, press the ‘FUNC’ button until “Frequency” appears on the front display.
- To scan and save station presets, press and hold the Play/Pause/Pair button. To scan for the next station, use the “FWD/TUN+” and “REW/TUN-” buttons. To tune the radio frequency by 0.1 MHz, use the “# UP” or “# DOWN” buttons.
- USB Playback
- The USB function plays music in MP3 and WAV format from a USB ‘thumb drive’. Connect the drive to the port labeled “USB” on the back of the speaker. It will play all songs on the drive in numerical/alphabetical order, including subfolders.
- To advance to the next song, use the “FWD/TUN+” button.
- To go back to the previous song, press the “REW/TUN-” button.
- To pause the music, press the Play/Pause/Pair button.
- To set USB playback to repeat one song, press “REP/MEM” once.
- To set USB playback to repeat all songs, press “REP/MEM” again.
- To set USB playback to shuffle, press “REP/MEM” a third time.
- Microphones
- Adjust the volume of the microphone input using the “Mic +” and “Mic -” buttons.
- The X8 can also add echo to your voice – use the “EH+” or “EH-” buttons to raise or lower the amount of echo
