IMPORTANT
 SAFEGUARDS

  1. Read all instructions carefully and thoroughly.
  2. Do not touch hot surfaces. Always hold the handle or dials.
  3. To protect against fire, electric shock, or injury, do not immerse the cord, plug, or appliance in water or other liquids.
  4. Close supervision is necessary when the appliance is used by or near children.
  5. Unplug the appliance from the outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Let it
    cool down before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning.
  6. Do not operate the appliance if the cord or plug is damaged or if it has malfunctioned or been damaged in any manner. Send the appliance to the
    BALMUDA Support Center for inspection, repair, or replacement.
  7. The use of accessory attachments not recommended by BALMUDA may result in
    fire, electric shock, or injury.
  8. Do not use outdoors.
  9. Do not let the cord hang over the edge of a table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
  10. Do not place the appliance on or near hot gas or electric burners, or in a heated oven.
  11. Use caution when removing heatproof dishes containing hot liquids from the
    appliance.
  12. To disconnect, turn the appliance off, then remove the plug from the outlet.
  13. Do not use the appliance for anything other than its intended purposes.
  14. Do not put oversized foods or metal utensils in the appliance. Doing so may cause
    fire or electric shock.
  15. Do not cover the appliance or allow it to touch flammable materials such as curtains, draperies, walls, etc.
  16. Do not store any item on top of the appliance when in operation.
  17. Do not clean with metal scouring pads. Pieces of the pad can break off and touch
    electrical parts, creating a risk of electric shock.
  18. Use caution when using containers made of materials other than heatproof metal
    or glass.
  19. Do not store any material beyond BALMUDA’s recommended access appliance when not in use.
  20. Do not place any of the following materials in the appliance: flammable items
    (paper, cardboard, plastic, wood, etc.) or any items other than food, recommended accessories.
  21. Do not cover the crumb catcher or any part of the appliance with metal or oil. Doing
    so may cause overheating.
  22. After use, press the power button to turn off the power, and remove the plug from
    The outlet.
  23. The appliance is for household use only.

When Using for the First Time

  1. Remove the tapes from locations ① to ④. BALMUDA K01M-WC Steam Oven Toaster-3
  2. Make sure the boiler cover is attached properly.
    • Open the door and make sure that the boiler cover is in place.
    • If it is out of place, place it on the boiler tray with “Front ▽” facing the front.

  3. Attach the toasting rack. Open the door and place the toasting rack on the toasting rack frame inside the appliance. When attaching the rack, make sure the four “feet” match the corresponding locations on the frame. BALMUDA K01M-WC Steam Oven Toaster-5
  4. Make sure the crumb catcher is properly attached. The crumb catcher is attached before the appliance is shipped from the factory. BALMUDA K01M-WC Steam Oven Toaster-6 If the crumb catcher is out of position, insert it correctly as illustrated below.  BALMUDA K01M-WC Steam Oven Toaster-7

  6. Insert the power plug into the outlet.

Control Panel/Display

Mode selection dial

The mode selection dial is used to select the heating mode.

  • 1 For frozen pizza, heat for 4 to 8 minutes. For frozen bagels, heat for 4 to 10 minutes.
  • Make sure to select the correct mode.
  • For additional heating, reheat at 350°F (Oven Mode) for the desired time.
  • For additional browning, reheat at 450°F (Oven Mode) for the desired time.
  • Refer to the guidebook (separate booklet) for more details on cooking methods.
  • Use the baking pan when heating pizza and other foods that may drip oil on the heating element.
  • When cooking in Oven Mode, do not add water as the boiler does not operate.

Power button/timer dial

Power button/timer dial is used to turn the power on and off and set the cooking time.

[Power button]

  • Turn the appliance on or off by pressing the power button.
  • When the power is turned on, the power indicator lights up orange with a beep sound.
  • When the power is turned off, the power indicator light will go off with a beep
    sound.
  • If the appliance is not operated within 30 seconds of being turned on, it will
    automatically turn off.

[Timer dial]

  • Cooking time options are as follows: 1 /1.5 /2 /2.5 /3 /3.5 /4 /4.5 /5 /6 /7 /8 /9 /10 /15 (min.)
  • When the cooking time is set, the timer indicator lights up orange.
  • The remaining time is indicated by the flashing of the timer indicator.
  • In the last minute of the cooking time, the temperature will increase to color the
    bread. The cooking time preceding the last minute may vary as the appliance monitors the temperature inside the oven and adjusts the heating time to achieve the best results. The time may vary depending on room temperature, humidity, and other factors that can affect the appliance’s internal temperature.

Cooking

  1. Insert the power plug into the outlet.
  2. Open the door and place the food in the center of the toasting rack. BALMUDA K01M-WC Steam Oven Toaster-12
    • This appliance does not require preheating.
    • When placing food or containers, use tongs or pot holders.
    • There may be differences in browning between the center and the edges of the toasting rack. Place the food in the center of the rack.
    • Only toast food that does not exceed 2.2 inches in height. Put the food in line with the height guideline.  BALMUDA K01M-WC Steam Oven Toaster-13
    • Note that foods with many ingredients may swell during cooking.
    • Use the attached baking pan to reheat pizza.
    • When using a heatproof dish, be sure to use one that is suitable for ovens and
      matches the interior size of the appliance.
    • If you are cooking in Oven Mode, proceed to step 5.
  3. Pour water into the 5 cc cup.
    • The water turns into steam to assist with the heating.
    • The amount of water required depends on the cooking mode and cooking time. Refer to the following table BALMUDA K01M-WC Steam Oven Toaster-14
    • When cooking in Oven Mode, do not add water as the boiler does not operate. If you add water, let the main unit cool before removing the toasting
      rack and boiler cover and wiping with a dry cloth.

    • Do not pour water anywhere other than the water inlet. Doing so may cause an electric shock.

  7. Turn the mode selection dial to select the cooking mode.BALMUDA K01M-WC Steam Oven Toaster-18
    • To select the correct mode, see the information on top of the appliance, “Mode selection dial” (p. 11 of this booklet), or the Guidebook (separate booklet).
  8. Turn the timer dial to set the cooking time.BALMUDA K01M-WC Steam Oven Toaster-19
    • The appropriate toasting time varies depending on the type, size, thickness, and number of slices of bread.
    • Bread with high sugar content may brown quickly.
    • Frozen bread takes longer to toast. Monitor the bread and adjust the cooking
      time as necessary.
    • The heating element automatically turns on and off during operation to control the temperature. This is not a malfunction.
    • Do not open the door while heating. The temperature inside the appliance will change, which will affect the toasting results.
  9. When the beep sounds that cooking is complete, open the door gently and take out the food. BALMUDA K01M-WC Steam Oven Toaster-20
  10. Press the power button to turn the power off.
  11. Remove the power plug from the outlet.

Cleaning

Clean the appliance after every use. Before cleaning, unplug the power cord and allow the main unit to cool sufficiently.

  • Use thick gloves to protect your hands.

Cleaning the toasting rack

  1. Remove the toasting rack from the toasting rack frame.
  2. Wash with diluted mild dish soap and dry thoroughly.

Cleaning the boiler parts

  1. Remove the boiler cover in the direction of the arrow
  2. Wipe the boiler tray with a soft cloth
  3. Wash the boiler cover with diluted mild dish soap and dry thoroughly.

Cleaning the crumb catcher

  1. Remove the crumb catcher in the direction of the arrow.
  2. Wash with diluted mild dish soap and dry thoroughly.

Cleaning the inside and outside of the appliance

Soak a soft cloth in diluted mild dish soap and wring it out well. Wipe the appliance and dry it thoroughly.

  • Be careful not to touch the heater tube. Doing so may cause it to break. If the heater tube is dirty, do not wipe it. Contact the BALMUDA Support Center (p. 19).
  • Food residue inside the appliance may cause uneven cooking.
  • Do not pour water directly on the appliance, as doing so may cause an electric shock. Clean it only with a well-wrung-out cloth.
  • To prevent damage to the product, use a soft cloth to clean it.
  • Using other substances besides mild dish soap may cause malfunction.

Troubleshooting

If the timer indicator begins to flash and the buzzer sounds continuously, operation will stop for safety reasons. The blinking of the timer indicator and the buzzer sound will stop after 30 seconds. Unplug the power cord from the outlet and contact the BALMUDA Support Center (p. 19).

Reasons why the operation may stop

Unusually high temperature before cooking

  • The temperature inside the appliance exceeds safety standards, such as when food inside is exceptionally hot.

Unusually high temperature during and after cooking

  • The temperature inside the appliance does not fall due to heat generated by the food, etc.

Malfunction of internal parts

  • The appliance’s self-diagnosis function detects a malfunction of internal parts.
